    Yes, I scanned the router installed by my ISP who has configured the router. I understand now, when I scan my Ubuntu Desktop IP address (which is what I should have done in the first place) I get the expected result: There is a lot to learn, but I enjoy it so much. :) Ole

    Sfx, I installed Nmap according to your how-to and ran "sudo nmap -v -A 192.168.10.1". The output was as follows: I was expecting to see an entry for the samba service which was running on Ubuntu with a connection established from my MacBook Pro. What am I missing? Ole
