    Beamforming

I have an RT-AC87R running 378.55. Beamforming 101 please: What's the quick and dirty explanation for Beamforming being off by default? Is it off by default on the official Asus firmware? Are the issues with the implementation of Beamforming due to limitations in the router, or with the...

    iSCSI Support?

Is future iSCSI support on the RT-AC87R within the realm of possibility?

NFS / vSphere ESXi and Thin Disks

And just like that, thin provisioning using ext4 is working! Thanks to everyone for your help.

NFS / vSphere ESXi and Thin Disks

Google is my friend. https://www.asuswrt.eu/how-to-format-usb-drive/ Had to reboot to clear the errors. Formatting ext4 now.

NFS / vSphere ESXi and Thin Disks

I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Free to delete the NTFS partition and create an ext4 partition on the drive. After plugging it into my RT-AC87R, this is the system log message: Mar 23 12:50:04 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2 Mar 23 12:50:04 kernel: scsi0...

NFS / vSphere ESXi and Thin Disks

What partition type is used in a NAS providing NFS storage? Is it using an NFS partition? That was the example I was trying to give, in contrast to the NTFS formatted disk that I'm using.

NFS / vSphere ESXi and Thin Disks

I have a vSphere / ESXi 6.0.0 server at home connected to an NFS export on my RT-AC87R. The external drive being used is a newer USB 3.0 Western Digital Passport. Everything is working great, which I must say is simply amazing. However, one frustration is that any data moved or copied to the NAS...

What is up with ASUS and NAT loopback?

Any idea when it will become stable again? Does your build overcome the problem? In the meantime, is there a preferred temporary fix?

What is up with ASUS and NAT loopback?

On my RT-AC68U, NAT loopback became very unstable starting at 3.0.0.4.378.3813. It works for a day or so, then stops. I've spent far too much time trying to figure out what the heck is going on. At first I thought port forwarding was broken, since disabling and re-enabling port forwarding...

    RT-AC68U Wireless MAC Filter

Curious as to the reasoning behind this. I found filtering per wireless band very convenient. Why remove this feature?

    RT-AC68U Wireless MAC Filter

Starting with 3.0.0.4.378.3813, ASUS removed per-band wireless MAC filtering, replacing it with a single filtering list. Does Asuswrt-Merlin follow the lead of ASUS, or is per-band filtering still present?

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.3873

That's a disappointing reduction in functionality. I've always preferred a single SSID, and per-band MAC filtering allowed me to better manage my wireless clients. Is there a resource at ASUS for feedback on changes like this?

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.3873

Do reboots typically take 2 to 2.5 minutes? Was the ability to configure the wireless MAC filtering per band removed in 3.0.0.4.378.3873?

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.3873

Ever since upgrading from 3.0.0.4.376.3626 to 3.0.0.4.378.3873, port forwarding on my RT-AC68U stops working nearly every day. It has to be disabled and re-enabled. Reboot times are over 2 minutes. Also, previous firmware versions allowed separate MAC filter rules per band, but this no longer...
