    ASUS router and HomePod mini

Locking the HomePods to 2.4Ghz Wifi Bands solved a lot of problems in my home, HomePods far away would not respond when switching from 2.4Ghz to weaker 5Ghz band: Wireless - Wireless MAC Filter 5Ghz -> Reject -> HomePods Mac Adresses Adding more ZenWifi units is the better and more expensive...

Hi, i enabled AdGuard DNS in Asus router WAN settings: It works see: https://adguard.com/en/test.html (I have to disable iCloud Private Relay on MacOS to make it work) But there is still something wrong: When i check traffic in Terminal all is still send over DNS (Port 53) and not...

WAN capped at 100mb help please! asus 87u

Found this thread when googling the same problem. My ISP can deliver 300MBit/300Mbit, but for some reason my speedtests were capped at 100MBit. Tried everything, finally i found the culprit. The Cat5e LAN cable from FTTH-modem to my Asus router was plugged into the LAN1-port of my modem...

RT-AC88U Power LED blinking after reset. No restore possible

After attaching the routers internal plug to a „UART-TTL USB Adapter CH340G converter“ we were able to view the boot messages. The router was doing reset commands intermittently. Desoldered the reset button and now the router works again. Seems the reset button is stuck in pressed position even...

ASUS TUF AX5400 2.4ghz band weak signal

You could try a well shielded USB-C-TO-A3.0-cable and add a USB-C-TO-MICROUSB3.0-Adapter at the end: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B09P9WD92V/ Most Micro-USB cables are old generation and bad shielded.

    Release ASUS TUF-AX5400 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21224 (2022/10/21)

Bought a used TUF-AX5400 for 100 bucks with firmware 386.50224 preinstalled. Replaced a dying RF-AC88U and it's amazing how much better the TUF-AX5400 is, even for 140 bucks new! I set up automatic reboot every second day at 4am, because of the memory leak i read about. It's rock solid, 5Ghz...

RT-AC88U Power LED blinking after reset. No restore possible

Took the router to my friend and he tried to tftp an older firmware.trx (380) with Terminal on Mac. tftp is preinstalled there. Nothing. After waiting an hour and trying it again it booted into the UI and even after a reboot it worked. Next day dead again. Will not spend more time on it, there...

    TP-Link WiFi 6 router advice

Compared Asus and TP-Link routers. TP-Link charges a premium subscription for basic network protection like DDoS Protection. This is a basic feature on routers since generations, and now paid service? Come on TP-Link. Their avira service calling home is another reason i will stay with Asus.

RT-AC88U Power LED blinking after reset. No restore possible

Just disassembled the router. Inside all caps look ok, but the whole circuit board is greasy. The thermal pads are leaking some kind of oily fluid. This happens from cheap thermal pads. Removed all fluid and trying again. Edit: Still not working, i believe it died.
