R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

Holy wow, finally! I guess I can put some live back into my Netgear :)

R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

If you use Windows, install the freeware HashTab by implbits. This tool adds a menu to the file properties. Then simply copy a large file from one PC to another (for example NAS) and then right click -> properties on the file and compare the checksums. Repeat this a few times. The checksum...

R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

Netgears view of the problem is "we are looking into it" since the beginning of this year.

Typically those commands get reset on a reboot, but I home @kamoj can offer more information. The commands enable / disable various flags for the lan interfaces, which have an impact on how the driver works.

Ablatt, can you test the above posted commands in a telnet session?

R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

Never tested a third party software, only original. Anyway no new firmware since I posted this, so still open in original :(

R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

For whatever reasons, the corruption issue is back now. The uplink is in Port 1, not WAN. The only change I made the last few days, was to increase the channel width to 160 MHz and replaced the Wi-Fi adapter in my laptop from Intel 7260-AC to 9260-AC. Time to test further... ARGH! [edit] Reboot...

R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

Interesting. I only discovered the problem in SMB transfers and maybe SCP, never in HTTP(s). Did you also test this? Note, my clients are all 802.11ac with at least 866 Mbps, not sure if this has any influence.

R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

Thanks Voxel. I sadly can't report it myself to NG support, because my R7800 is already > 90 days old and I can't buy a support contract in my country for this device/Netgear. But I got a PM from [name redacted] who will report it directly to Netgear :)

R7000 in Bridge mode loosing wired clients

Hi all I also have a second Netgear router, an R7000 which is in Bridge mode and connected to my R7800 in AP mode. To this R7000 are several wired clients connected, which are most of the day turned off. After 1-3 days, the wired ports stop working on the R7000. I'm running official firmware...

R7800 data corruption when in Accesspoint mode

Just did the first tests, and it looks indeed working correct, if the WAN port is not used :) Thanks for this workaround! It would still be great if that could be fixed in the firmware, because I only discovered the problem because my backup application told me my backups were corrupt on the...
