    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

Yeah, I'd say it only has to do with services that collect and store user data, not devices. I'm pretty familiar with GDPR because I'm a software developer and we just did a few GDPR updates for various services and apps. Mostly just some changes in the privacy policies, really.

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

I updated my RT-AC56U to 384.5. It seemed pretty nice at first, but two major things did not work at all for me: * My USB modem would not connect at all. I tried everything I could think of, but it just did not connect. It said "network cable is unplugged" even though WAN settings were clearly...

Internet connection using USB-modem stopped working on RT-AC56U

I don't know wtf happened, but today everything started working again, without me doing anything... Mystical stuff :D

Internet connection using USB-modem stopped working on RT-AC56U

Yep, it didn't help :( Now the router managed to update its' time using ntp and setup ddns though (after many failed attempts, according to the log), but still no internet. So, I guess it's time to follow the guide.

Internet connection using USB-modem stopped working on RT-AC56U

Nope, I haven't had to do anything like that after any upgrades so I thought I'd be fine this time too. The connection problems started before I upgraded though. But yeah, I'll follow the guide if the downtime didn't help.

Internet connection using USB-modem stopped working on RT-AC56U

Yeah, let's hope that helps, I'll be home in an hour or so and then we'll see. Anyway, I don't think there's been any surge, and usually it's the ac-dc adapter rather than the actual device that blows if that happens (unless the surge comes through the phone line). I've had to replace dozens of...

Internet connection using USB-modem stopped working on RT-AC56U

Yeah, I figured the clock thing might be like that... I find it kinda strange though that it doesn't write its' time somewhere so it could be restored after a reboot to get it approximately right before getting the precise time from NTP - because if the time is wrong, all kinds of certificate...

Internet connection using USB-modem stopped working on RT-AC56U

Not that I know of, and all my network devices are connected to a surge protected power strip, so I don't think that's the case. Also, I don't have a wired internet connection, so there's no chance of a surge coming through the phone lines. (I've had that too at my parent's place) It might...

Internet connection using USB-modem stopped working on RT-AC56U

Hello, I don't what's going on with my router. I was at the hospital for a week (no illness, my daughter was born :) ), and when I returned, I noticed that my internet connection was down. I tried all the usual stuff - rebooted the router, disconnected and reconnected everything, updated to the...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

Ok, I guess it could be an irssi-connectbot issue then. But for me it also connects Ok, the issue occurs when I try to ssh to another machine from inside the ssh-session - any chance you could try that and see if you get similar results?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

I posted my dy.fi ddns-start script directly to the wiki. It's here: https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Custom-DDNS#dyfi By the way ... does anyone else here ssh into their router using Connectbot on Android? I'm using the irssi-connectbot fork of it, and I keep getting strange errors...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

I had some problems with Custom DDNS on the latest firmware - when my ddns-start script called custom-ddns-updated (or whatever it was called, I can't check right now), it resulted in a segmentation fault. Then I tested it again another day and it worked :D I didn't even reboot the router... My...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 is available

Yeah, that's probably a good idea to prevent stupid users like me from bricking their devices :D Luckily these routers have the resque mode, so we don't have to worry about permanently breaking anything. I had the same problem when I first updated to a Merlin build. Thing is, the folder dates...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 is available

It's an openssh generated RSA key, but I think it went wrong because I pasted the private key directly. I don't want to paste my real key here, but here's a newly generated similar one: -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY----- MIIEoQIBAAKCAQEAmFcHbZ1C8327QfGIDQ8PeuUvRtmzyWwFYirT3XmHs17L17hO...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 is available

My RT-AC56U broke last week, and today I received a new one. I flashed beta2 of this said version onto it, because the Mediafire-site didn't show the stable one. It seemed to work fine, until I set an ssh key - after that it got stuck in a boot loop. I'll flash the stable version tomorrow and...
