RT-AC5300 - Clients can't access web interface unless I disconnect WAN cable and reboot router.

Agree, this is what I did: Flash the firmware, configured the router, and experienced the issue. Next, I did factory reset (following this ASUS article), configured the router again, and experienced failure, again. :(

Unable to access router after firmware update to RT-AC68U_386.1_0

@spothunter - Did it eventually work for you? I had this issue this morning, but I am not sure if I am seeing the same problem you did. In my case I could definitely browse to the Web UI and configure the router ONE TIME after upgrading the firmware, but once everything was configured and nodes...

RT-AC5300 - Clients can't access web interface unless I disconnect WAN cable and reboot router.

Almost a year later, returning to say that upgrading the 5300 and AiMesh nodes to Merlin 384.19 fixed everything for a good while! But then I added an RT-AX58U to the mix as an AiMesh node (with Merlin 384.19) and it's having intermittent issues- sometimes the lights on it all go solid and it...

Rt ac5300 with netgear wifi extender

I don't know anything about those extenders you got. I'm curious how they do their thing considering they're designed to use the same SSID unlike the default configurations for most other extenders. Just wanted to note that I use an AC5300 as my main router, and I have 2 AC86U and 1 AX58U set...

Merlin Firmware - It's just amazing

More like about a dozen builds, across 4 different devices in the past year alone. (Also have a 68U that I was using as a wifi extender when I was running without AiMesh; with the AiMesh actually working well now I don't need the extender.) While I understand your argument, I've been fighting...

Merlin Firmware - It's just amazing

I was gonna start a similar thread until I found mine. I had two pretty serious problems with my ASUS setup (one AC5300, two AC86Us), and my absolute last-ditch effort before tossing them all in the trash was installing Merlin. For each device I did a factory/hard reset first, then installed the...

Any non-ASUS solutions for full-home WiFi with many Ethernet devices on different levels of the home?

Thanks for the very thoughtful replies. I am glad to know the Eero devices have Ethernet ports (something I was looking for on the Nest Wifi devices). I have Ethernet switches out the yang, so that wouldn't be a hardship to set up. I've been concerned about range with all these little things...

Any non-ASUS solutions for full-home WiFi with many Ethernet devices on different levels of the home?

Good question- there are coax connections in two of the three rooms where I need connectivity. One of the ports is even in a good location (the other is not, but perhaps usable with some shuffling of devices and yet another big ugly cable in the living room). So we would still need an all...

RT-AC5300 - Clients can't access web interface unless I disconnect WAN cable and reboot router.

Hmm. Considering I've had far more problems with this 5300 than I did with the one at my old place, a HW issue is not out of the question, I guess. I had pegged it more on bad FW updates, but worth investigating. Thanks for your suggestions. I do plan to try the latest stable Merlin builds on...

Any non-ASUS solutions for full-home WiFi with many Ethernet devices on different levels of the home?

I live in a 3-story condo and I have multiple Ethernet-only devices on each level of my home that require WiFi access. Re-wiring for in-home Ethernet is not an option. I own an ASUS RT-AC5300 as my primary router (on 2nd floor where the single fiber Internet connection is) and have two RT-86U...

RT-AC5300 - Clients can't access web interface unless I disconnect WAN cable and reboot router.

Almost two months later the problem has returned. (Unable to access web interface from browsers, and the ASUS Router app can't connect either- even though all clients can access the internet.) In that two months I should note I've had to reboot the AC5300 plus my two AC86Us (media bridges)...

RT-AC5300 - Clients can't access web interface unless I disconnect WAN cable and reboot router.

After occurring three times over two days, the problem has not resurfaced. The only thing I did different the last time I fixed it was to power off the two media bridges at the same time I powered off the AC5300, forcing all clients- wired or wireless- to reconnect. No idea how the media bridges...

RT-AC5300 - Clients can't access web interface unless I disconnect WAN cable and reboot router.

Hi, My RT-AC5300 Firmware version is: 3.0.0.4.384_81981 I haven't installed any scripts (and don't know how) I have rebooted the router many times, and several days ago, when giving up on AiMesh, did a "hard reset" using the hold-WPS-button-until-Power-LED-flashes method. The IP address that...

RT-AC5300 - Clients can't access web interface unless I disconnect WAN cable and reboot router.

I had a secret fear that my fix from yesterday was only a temporary reprieve from the real problem, and today that fear was confirmed. PROBLEM STATEMENT After my network has been up for some amount of time (between minutes and hours), clients lose the ability to load the RT-AC5300's web...

    RT-AC68U Internet detection WAN setting

Just throwing this out there since I haven't seen it mentioned here yet. I own an AC68U, although it's not currently in service, but I had a similar-sounding problem with my AC5300. For weeks whenever I went to the web interface of the router, the Internet status reported on the Network Map...
