    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

Yes, comparing to AC5300, AX11000 did have better range or better signal strength for the devices on further distance on a different floor. However, when clsoe range, same distance, the AC has stronger signal 30-40 dB from AC vs 40-50 dB from AX. I got the reading from my PC's network analyzer...

I am aware of that, that is why I edited: I know Tim's benchmark may not be the standard of how things should be, but reading through the GT-AC5300 threads, a lot of ppl are posting similar results.

The AX performance numbers may look close to what you are getting, however, the GT-AC5300's test results are way under what I am seeing with my GT-AC5300 and in my side to side comparison tests. My GT-AC5300 has stronger signal and much faster speed. And the speed result showing in that tests...

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

I tried very hard to convince myself to keep the AX routers for "future-proof", I was convinced, but not for long. As soon I started having all kinds of issues, especially when I switch back to GT-AC5300, I realized "future-proof" is a fantasy I was chasing after. Let's say, I use my GT-AC5300...

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

There are only a few reviews on the internet about these new routers that comes with some test data and not just repeating the information available on the official product page. The ones I had been able to found and got me into buying AX router are these two...

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

Oh I forgot to mention, while I was doing comparison between AC5300 and AX11000, I did notice that AC is giving my PC better signal strength than AX. Quite the opposite to other online review says. Not sure about how valid those reviews are now.

Those results are good, but I think top end AC could do better. GT-AC5300 could pull over 900 out of the gigabit service. In the end, I am returning my AX routers. Going to get AC routers for now. I am just so tired of monitoring and fixing my router everyday. To your previous post about...

Having Speed issues with Asus gt-ax11000

Well... I had some troubles in the beginning and thought it was hardware issue, but after tweaking, it worked fine... however... still not convinced it is time to buy AX... trying to experiment for few more days and will make a decision to keep the AX11000 or the GT-AC5300

Having Speed issues with Asus gt-ax11000

Please read the thread name, he is running AX11000, there is no Merlin firmware for that. Weird, I am having the exact setup except I am using a optical to coaxial converter, and then it connects to my cable modem and my AX11000 connects to the modem. Have you tried start AX11000 with your...

Thinking about ax88u to replace my ac86u

That is not true, network communication is what the handheld device (here the Samsung S10+) is built for, it will not sacrifice wireless performance for battery when the user is demanding network functionalities. What is the point of pushing faster wifi onto the phone while the phone itself...

Having Speed issues with Asus gt-ax11000

Can you try one more thing, disable the "Universal Beamforming" under the "Wireless" -> "Professional"? That is the only different setting I am having than yours. I had trouble with the internet speed with my AX11000 routers last week, but after setting up fixed channels, it seems like they are...

Thinking about ax88u to replace my ac86u

I disagree that a handhelf device like Samsung S10+ is not good enough to test router performance. After all, it has more computing power than the router itself and even better than a lot of regular grade laptops. Network speed testing is only some data transfer over TCP or UDP, I think S10+ is...

Having Speed issues with Asus gt-ax11000

Disable HE support Disable 160mhz channels Disable auto select DFS channels, manually set your channel to 64 for 5G-1, channel 100 for 5G-2, assuming you are the only one in your neighborhood having routers support DFS channels. If the channel is occupied, change to other DFS channels manually...

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

I got my AX88u yesterday too, I also want to report my AX88 experience. So, I set it up like this: Second floor: AX88 as my main router, serves smart devices (N clients) on first floor and apple tv, xbox etc Thrid floor: AX11000 as a mesh node using ethernet backhaul, serves my gaming PC...
