Hi all
I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot slow VPN speeds on my router setup. I posted this also on Reddit, but this place might be a better place.
Setup:
Router: ASUS ZenWiFi AX mesh v1.0, newest firmware
VPN: ProtonVPN (paid – Unlimited plan)
Protocol: OpenVPN (configured via...
So I just pinpointed the bad internet speed to only be around my secondary mesh node.
So I tried again to change the Ethernet cable between the main node and secondary node. And now the internet speed is again gigabit. I'll report back in the coming time, if it's for some reason unstable again...
Problem:
I'm supposed to have a 1000 mbit connection. But for some reason, it's only doing 100 mbit.
It's not my ISPs issue. As we troubleshootet together and have just got a new fiberbox installed. All the way from my ISP through the fiberbox and to the first mesh node, it says 1000 mbit...
Microsoft has released the big update to Windows 11, version 23H2, and I was wondering if that update addresses our issue with the router connectivity dropoffs?
I just saw Microsoft posted this update KB5037771 and it resolves and issue from a prior win update from around april and forward, regarding VPN connections that fail. Perhaps this update somehow resolves our AC87U connection drop issue!?
EDIT: ONe day later now, after win patch install, same...
What exactly indicates that the router reboots based on the router system log? How do you know it reboots at 3 am?
Yeah, the power adapter. I have not tried to replace it yet. But I do also think it is some kind of firmware/software issue instead. I can't pinpoint it to Chrome, windows, or the...
According to my internet service provider, it is complete BS, what ASUS technical support is saying, that ASUS routers (including AC87U) can't handle IP adresses that start with either 10 or 100. I've had a IP with 100 for a long time and used the ac87u for many years. But only recently...
According to asus technical service, they said to me that all asus routers don't like when the WAN IP address you get from your internet service provider, starts with 10 or 100.
Mine starts with 100.
Asus says that this makes the router overflow and as a result constantly rebootsvand...
Yes may 5th also for me. Some kind of reboot issue. But I don't know what triggers it.
I'm in dialogue with ASUS technical service, who are helping out on resolving the issue. Will report back, if and when I hear news.
Yet the problem is, that the AC87U is end of life, so as we know, nothing...
I can also adress the issue is related to my wired win 11 PC. But also my laptop (win 10) with wireless connection can make the internet drop.
But ipads, TV, apple TV, phones do not trigger the connection drop.
Yes it would seem that this issue might be software/firmware related somehow. Perhaps due to a Windows update, I don't know.
BUT, it seems that my internet is fully stable again!
I did the command promts in windows:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset
After...
