I have originally set up two Asus routers in bridge mode and the 2nd router has devices connected via ethernet. All work very well with the 2.4g being being used on the first router as well.
What I would like to do is continue with a backhaul setup but add WiFi and a separate network for the...
AX86u. Sorry, error on my part not to be clearer.
It is my landlord's router. The decision was that all my devices are on its own net using the 5g and her's would be on its own net at 2.4g.
My devices from time to time talk to each other (share data).
Below is a diagram that would be similar...
My present system -
Asus 86u with both 2.4 and 5g being used.
I have an opportunity to get the Asus Wifi 6e AXE11000 heavily discounted.
The catch is that I cannot replace the 86u but can connect the AXE11000 wirelessly.
Though I may not get the 6e advantage now (devices don't do 6e), I was...
Thanks much for investing the time to do those tests and also the mention of good reason to wait if possible.
I'll keep my eyes open on SNB site for all the latest.
While not exactly on point here, I see this notion of a higher speed or rather greater data moved at a given moment is not a bad idea for WiFi bridges or items like Netgear Orbi where the two modules talk to each other. The devices (computers etc.) do not directly use the 160 bandwidth.
end...
This puzzle/topic is interesting. How is NAT handles and, any advantage to the reserved IP or static IP for second router being port forwarded on the 1st router? Also, (not related exactly to the OP) can both also handle VLAN in this arrangement of the 2nd router taking a line from the 1st...
This item looks promising for certain types of needs. I could easily see the satellite being used by a home entertainment system via the 4 Ethernet ports and done neatly. Most know that this would probably work better than trying to go wireless directly from typical home ent. hardware such as...
We have seen NAS units with 4 port connections offering DHCP etc., seems like making a small NAS with multi-port and WiFi would be the next progression. This could be a NAS that serves as an access point or bridge or perhaps when 802.11ac 3200 become more common, it would have its own dedicated...
The original install of cable (coax) was a challenge based on what was under the house. Presently, it reside in one room that is adjacent to the "TV" room and thus cable was carried along the floor through the adjoining wall to the TV room. Where the cable first shows up in the home, it has an...
Below is what I wish to set up. I cannot put in a cable connection between them.
C7000 Cable Modem <----- 802.11ac----->R7000+3 Ethernet Cabled devices (possibly USB printer).
(what is the best WiFi to have above work fastest and then consideration for other WiFI in home)
The parameters -
1)...
I am quite familiar with the AE and was curious if there is any list of AC routers that have known stable firmware/software. For myself, I would love to play with 3rd party firmware but this exercise is not for me. As mentioned I am dealing with several N capable devices, one AC device and...
Just a bit curious - when seeing customer reviews on various routers (still trying to choose here), I often see 'challenges' occurring with the native firmware/software provide for Asus, comments as well on some Netgear and even the Archer series. Are there certain ac router models that have...
