    Best firmware version for AP mode with RT-N66U

    I'd recommend john9527's 374.43 fork as an excellent balance of range (perhaps only very slightly poorer than the sdk5 driver) and security.

    I'm currently running 374.41 (sdk6) which, for me, has comparable range to 374.35_4-sdk5 (the last sdk5 build) but benefits from more recent bug fixes/security updates. So far, the range of more recent builds (374.42, 374.43, 376.44 betas) has been sufficiently poorer to be problematic for me...

    Certainly has been for me - I'm getting about 30% better throughput on 5GHz (w/ 40Mhz width channel) compared to .40. No idea why, but I'm not complaining!

    To be honest, I never got samba logging to work - even using the postconf script to set log level = 2, the log file was still zero length. I've taken to restarting samba daily with a cron script.

    Why not just put symbolic links to your various media directories inside your EXT_DIR directory? That is, if EXT_DIR = /mnt/Drive/ and you want to include media in /media/place1 and /media/place2, just run "ln -s /media/place1 /media/place2 /mnt/Drive/"

    Thanks, much better solution. By the way, https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Custom-config-files#wiki-postconf-scripts doesn't list smb.postconf but it seems to work fine.

If write_smb_conf is "replaced" with an empty but executable dummy script (by "mount -o bind /root/dummy.sh /sbin/write_smb_conf"), /etc/smb.conf is deleted and not...
