Is anyone having issues with this firmware in Media Bridge mode? I'm getting a hard reset about once a week. Everything else (speed, cpu & ram usage) is working fine. It was an over-the-air upgrade followed by a factory reset w/ initialize settings. Thinking about downgrading, the previous...
I had something similar happen on my AC68U after a nearby lightning strike. The WAN port was dead but the LAN worked fine so I was able to use it in Media Bridge mode, then shortly (maybe a month) after that the LAN ports stopped working. But I was still able to use it in AImesh and Repeater...
I followed the rescue mode directions a couple of times and set up TCP/IPv4 but the recovery software still couldn't connect. I'll try it again with a different ip range to see if that works. I'd be willing to try the usb method as a last resort. Is there a guide on how to do it?
On the board...
I upgraded through the web interface and I also upgraded another router at the same time and that one worked fine.
I am able to get it into recovery mode but I can't connect with the recovery software. I think the yellow ethernet ports aren't responsive. After the lightning strike the blue lan...
I have an AC68U that went though lightning strike last year and the blue lan port stopped working. But I was still able to use it both in bridge mode and as an wireless AI node successfully. I recently updated the firmware on it and now it won't boot up. When I power it on I only get a steady...
What do you guys think about the RT-AX55? Its a newer model, supports AiMesh, and about the same price as the AC68U.
Would it perform better than the AC68U even if I don't have AX clients?
I was leaning towards the 86u for the price but not if it has reliability issues. And I don't want to have to hack a new router with a laptop fan or something because its overheating.
I didn't realize the 86U had reliability issues. I'm reading the thread about the overheating issues on the 86U with the 386 firmware here. Is this mainly what you're referring to?
I guess I can grab another AC68U or AC66U_B1 whichever I can find a better deal on. Then wait a few years to...
I had a cloud to ground lightning strike that fried my cable modem and AC68U last week and destroyed a tree in my yard. I've been testing the AC68U and found the WAN, LAN 1&2 ports are bad but the WIFI and LAN 3&4 work just fine. I've been using it as a repeater for a week and I haven't had any...
