Solved Torrenting crashes the internet connection

Thanks @Tech9, setting it to TCP improved the download speeds. Although I still can't increase the number of connections too much, I can download using the full bandwidth.

Solved Torrenting crashes the internet connection

I think the problem is my modem. I connected directly to my modem with cable and tried downloading, same problem happened. I had to lower down the number of connections below 100 to have a stable connection. I should have tried this before but I didn't think it could be the modem because I...

Solved Torrenting crashes the internet connection

I don't think it is related to the torrent clients. This problem started about a month ago. Initially I thought my ISP started blocking the torrent connections, but my friend and other people using the same ISP don't have such an issue. So I tried downloading on my Windows and Linux machines as...

Solved Torrenting crashes the internet connection

I checked the CPU, memory and temps but there weren't any spikes while I was downloading, this was the first thing I suspected. System logs also don't show anything. I tried with qBittorrent, rTorrent and Flud (android), same with all of them. I also disabled the AI Protection but that also...

Solved Torrenting crashes the internet connection

Wired or wireless doesn't matter in my case, so I don't think it is a wifi issue. I have torrent box with wired connection and I had to lower the number of connections down to 100 on that also.

Solved Torrenting crashes the internet connection

Hi everybody, I have been downloading stuff with torrents since forever. I have 300/50 Mb/s internet connection and I was able to utilize almost the full bandwidth until the recent (386.3) update. I used to use pretty high (500) concurrent connections and that wasn't a problem before. Now I...

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

It was around 95c in 25c ambient temp without the fan.

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

I don't think it is Merlin specific. I was using "RC2-11 41994" before installing "Merlin 386.1_2" and both were around ~92-95c. In both cases I configured the router from scratch to get rid of the temperature bug. Now with "Merlin 386.1_2" and a fan, the temp is around 60c.

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

I disabled everything to bring the temperature down and CPU was idling most of the time but that didn't help. It only improved after I installed a firmware without the temperature bug and configured the router from scratch.

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

I slapped on a 92mm USB fan and now it is down to ~60c from ~95c. Great! Now I have only one USB port available on the router

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

It is very annoying indeed. I ordered a USB fan for 13EUR. It is quite an upgrade if you think the router was for ~130EUR. I will keep this router as long a possible but it will probably be my last Asus router.

    GT-AC2900 running at 82°C on Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 - too hot?

I think 82c is quite warm but still OK. I spent some time trying different fw and currently with RC2-11 41994 my coretemp is ~92c. You might find this post relevant. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ac86u-overheats-with-fw-386.70296/

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

I installed the RC2-11 41994 and did the factory reset. I configured everything manually. The coretemp is hovering around 92c now without too much activity and syslog isn't showing any errors. I hope it doesn't overheat under load. I think 92c is still quite hot. Do you think a fan would help...

    AC86U overheats with fw 386

No, I did the factory reset before upgrading to the 9.0.0.4.386.41994. So, do you recommend to use the beta fw?
