Have an AC86U connected by ethernet setup as a mesh node to my primary router.
Long story short, I have a need to redo the node as an AP. Will keep the same SSID. What is the easiest, least disruptive way of doing this?
I've got a weird DNS issue with my Samsung Galaxy S24+ phone. I realize this is on the one hand probably not the best forum for this, but after spending several days trouble shooting this problem - it seems specific to my AX5700 Pro router with Merline 3004.388.8_2. Let me summarize as...
Have a older PC which I converted from Windows to Chrome OS Flex. Generally everything works fine. But when I try to access router: http://192.168.1.1; Chrome will not connect. Error returned is 192.168.1.1 refused to connect. I can still access without issue from my PC and my MAC. Any ideas?
ok - think I figured this out. Sometime, beyond my limited memory capacity :), I must have set the DNS server entry in the MAC to 1.1.1.1. And proceded to forget about this. This setting apparently overrides any router based settings. I'm generally more of a Windows guy, and default setting...

Have ASUS RT-AX86U Pro running Merlin 3004.388.8_2
I am trying to test out various adblocking DNS services.
I went to WAN DNS services and from the Assign button, tried different sets of servers, including vanilla ones like Google. Always click apply to complete task.
After each and every...
Currently have two ASUS routers - AX88U Pro and AC88U. They are configured with Merlin as AI Mesh with the AX88U as primary. Primary servers the front of the house. The AC88U serves the back of the house and that's where the media devices - all of which are in close proxity to the AC88U and my...
I recently got a gl.inet router as a travel router. It is a low end device - the Opal SFT1200 ($39 at Amazon). Yes it is OpenWRT which can be technically rich but challenging, but they have their own front end to it that is relatively easy and straight forward. Very easy to setup Wireguard...
I'm surprised that Netflix took so long to crack down on me. But then curiously, at least as of today, while they block my app on the TV, I can set do Netflix on the web.
Had a feeling we were moving in this direction. Before I knew details of her system - seemed relatively straight forward. Now it's turning into a science project. My ISP does not support IPv6, which I was (am) fine with. Great service over fiber. Just thought it would be "easy" to get VPN on...
Ok - so here's the use case for what I am (will be) trying to accomplish. My daughter and I have shared passwords for some streaming services. She has Netflix. It was actually only this past week that my access to her Netflix was turned off. So, the thought was, to setup an OpenVPN service on...
So just found out something interesting. My daughters setup is consists of a T-Mobile Home Internet (TMHI) gateway front ending her Eero network. TMHI's use CG-NAT (this cannot be disabled) so I guess my question is in part how is this Eero network (which uses NAT) working at all for her? In...
