    Wireguard and NordVPN?

I’m listening, I just don’t agree. I don’t think you understand my use case, even though I’ve tried to communicate it many times. Personally, I think you are just trying to demonise WireGuard - you’re running a fear campaign to try protect your precious OpenVPN. I’m more than capable of...

    Wireguard and NordVPN?

Classic troll behaviour. I took a look at post #18 My post is not equipment related. Stop trying to control the narrative.

    Wireguard and NordVPN?

Interesting thread. My max ISP throughput is 629 Mbps down - according to the built-in Ookla Speedtest (yes, with WireGuard sessions connected) I use other routers for domestic, non-VPN traffic. My AX88U is dedicated to tunnels. Unfortunately, the AX88U is also h/w limited to a max of 2...

It’s in the ASUS stock firmware.

    Multiple VPN Question

Each “device” is assigned to a tunnel in VPN Fusion, although one iPad counts as two “devices” due to the choice of SSID. VPNs are not only used for security / anonymity - in this scenario, you normally choose the VPN provider closest to you. VPNs are also used for geo-unblocking. This is when...

    Multiple VPN Question

Yes, but you only have two WireGuard sessions active. Try and add a 3rd one, if you can. I’m just curious to see whether it allows it on your router.

    Multiple VPN Question

No disadvantages at all. I only have an AX88U which is h/w limited to a maximum of 2 concurrent VPN sessions, but for your AXE11000, you might be in luck. I’m interested in whether it works or not. If so, I will buy an AX11000. Personally, I need to run 4 WireGuard sessions 24x7. Of course...

    Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21099 (2022/10/03 )

I was considering this router for family use as it’s relatively unobtrusive - compared to an AX11000 for instance. CPU is a bit weak, but there’s no VPN Fusion, is there? It’s 388 firmware, but no VPN Fusion?? Can someone pls confirm? Thanks…

    [Dev] Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 development

Yep, this is the trend in IT. SMTP replaced X.400 Peer-to-peer networking is replacing the client/server model Just two examples of chaos replacing order. Decentralised finance replacing banking institutions is another example of what’s coming.

    [Dev] Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 development

Ok - but my point is that the you are using Asus wireguard code to do the connecting, so there will probably be a maximum number of concurrent sessions limit imposed when using the AX88U Havn’t been able confirm yet whether this also applies to the AX11000.

    [Dev] Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 development

Yes, 5 are supposed to be supported. Except there is a h/w limitation on the AX88U that limits that router to 2 concurrent sessions. If VPN Director is currently a UI running on top of stock WireGuard code (as you said yourself), you might find a pop-up when you try and connect the 3rd session.

    [Dev] Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 development

Looks good. And the choice of dev platforms (AX88U & AX11000) are the two routers I’m most interested in at the moment. Now, for the all important question, using VPN Director and Merlin 388.1 on an AX88U, can I have more than 2 concurrent WireGuard sessions? Eg. 3 or 4? That would be a game...

Turning on Wireguard on RT-AX88U slows all local download speeds

Not only currently available hardware, 388 firmware for the router is also needed. Looking like a long wait.

Turning on Wireguard on RT-AX88U slows all local download speeds

Where is the confirmation? He said he needs to investigate further, and if the results are the same, etc. We know the AX88U has h/w limitations, the AX86U is a similar beast. I’m more interested in testing on the new models, the PRO models for instance.

    Asus Ax89X WireGuard

Good to hear that they are still accepting new consumer applications. The company was bought a few years ago by an Australian company, who used to be a client of mine (small world). They had to move from IBP, but I’m pleased to hear that they are still offering Optical Ethernet to consumers -...
