Community Fibre 1Gb - Asus AC86U or Linksys Velop?

Apologies for the late reply, although it sounds like you got it working without my help. I did not clone my Velops's MAC address and strangely mine seems to be working. I did, however, need to change my IPv6 connection type to "native" and enable DHCP-PD. I also had to set WAN connection...

Community Fibre 1Gb - Asus AC86U or Linksys Velop?

Thanks @L&LD and sorry for not responding sooner. At the moment I can't see the RT-AX86U Pro for less than £250, which is a fair bit to splash out just right now. I'll keep looking for offers though!

Community Fibre 1Gb - Asus AC86U or Linksys Velop?

Thank you, both, for the advice - very helpful. The 2 suggested routers are expensive. How much improvement would I be getting over either: 1/ keeping my existing 2 x Asus AC router setup 2/ adding a node to the Velop (The house is Victorian brick/3 floors so I think 1 AX router is not going...

Community Fibre 1Gb - Asus AC86U or Linksys Velop?

I've just had Community Fibre 1Gb installed. They installed a Linksys Velop router (but no nodes) and a modem. My existing setup was 2 x Asus AC86U to create a mesh network and I was very happy with the coverage so I simply plugged their modem into my Asus router and the connection seems to be...

    RT-AC86U & iPad - frequent wifi disconnections

Just an update: since binding the iPad to just my downstairs router, I've had no disconnections. Seems strange, since both my routers are the same model/firmware. But for the time being, it works so I'm happy.

    RT-AC86U & iPad - frequent wifi disconnections

I had the opportunity to test Zoom on the iPad again today and, despite disabling "Private Address", it dropped connection after 5 mins. Also, disabling Private Address does weird things: it changes the iPad's MAC address and then there is no trace of said MAC address on the router's GUI! You...

    RT-AC86U & iPad - frequent wifi disconnections

Thanks! Good news, since I don't know where to find those settings!

    RT-AC86U & iPad - frequent wifi disconnections

Oh, this is interesting! I'll take a look at the settings. Thank you!

    RT-AC86U & iPad - frequent wifi disconnections

Thank you. That's fantastic - I'll go through all your suggestions. Is there a reason not to bind devices? And just so that I'm understanding this correctly... clicking the bind button simply tells the mesh to restrict the device to one node, right?

    RT-AC86U & iPad - frequent wifi disconnections

Thanks for your reply and the questions! At the time of the last Zoom drop, there were 3 entries in the router log with the ipad's MAC address: dnsmasq-dhcp[23669]: DHCPREQUEST(br0) dnsmasq-dhcp[23669]: DHCPACK(br0) not mesh client, can't update it's ip With regards to the ipad's connection...

    RT-AC86U & iPad - frequent wifi disconnections

Having problems with 2 iPads in the house which are frequently dropping wifi connection (usually in the middle of an important Zoom meeting!). I've checked on the router system log and I think I've identified the entry associated with the disconnections: not mesh client, can't update it's ip...

Adding 192.168.2.x address to WAN port?

That's great. Thanks for letting me know!

Adding 192.168.2.x address to WAN port?

Brilliant. All done. Thanks so much for your help.

Adding 192.168.2.x address to WAN port?

Thanks. I've never added a script before. Is it as simple as SSHing into my Asus, creating a text file called "wan-event" in the /jffs/scripts/ directory and copying and pasting your code?

Adding 192.168.2.x address to WAN port?

That did it! Fantastic - thank you so much. What does this command actually do?
