RT-BE86U USB ports - how much power do they provide?

I thought about this, whether it would be putting a strain on the router's VRM. The router runs on 12V, so it would be stepping down 12V 0.8-1A to 5V constantly. That should generate at most 1W of heat. It probably has a heatsink on the VRM and overheat protection. If the ports are designed to...

RT-BE86U USB ports - how much power do they provide?

Actually, this reminded me that my phone charged pretty quickly when I tested dual WAN with it, and then I remembered that I had a USB meter. So I tested the ports and both output 1.5A or about 7.4W! So it should be enough for the modem and ONT. But I couldn't test both simultaneously. I'll just...

RT-BE86U USB ports - how much power do they provide?

Hello, I'm wondering if it would be possible to power an ONT and a DSL modem using the USB ports on the back of the RT-BE86U router. They are both 12V devices, so I would be using those 5V to 12V step-up USB to barrel plug cables. Neither device uses more than 5W, so if the ports can provide 1A...

Will AiMesh nodes with wireless backhaul repeat SSID/pass from non-AiMesh router?

This is just in the event that my main router dies while I'm traveling, then I could remote into a phone I keep at home that's a WAN for another router, then change the SSID/pass on that to match the main network and have the nodes repeat it. But it seems the only way to do that is to use finger...

Will AiMesh nodes with wireless backhaul repeat SSID/pass from non-AiMesh router?

Thanks, so there is no way to remotely do this unless you use a fingerbot connected to another network to press the reset button. By the way, when I turn off the main router, the nodes do not continue to broadcast the network and any devices connected to the node disconnect.

Will AiMesh nodes with wireless backhaul repeat SSID/pass from non-AiMesh router?

Is there any way to access the nodes if the main router is down? Through another device using Tailscale for instance? And then I can reconfigure them as repeaters.

Will AiMesh nodes with wireless backhaul repeat SSID/pass from non-AiMesh router?

Two years later, I still need to know this. The replies above didn't understand what I was asking. I know it's a weird question, but if someone can please give a definitive answer, that would be very helpful for planning my network redundancy.

Asus RT-AX86U error: acs_start eth7 cannot select chanspec with the wrong info

It seems to only affect people who have an AIMesh setup and want to use DFS channels. I seriously doubt it's been resolved. As I said, for me switching to the AX89X fixed it, but I'm about to buy a BE86U and I'll report back whether that has the issue.

Asus RT-AX86U error: acs_start eth7 cannot select chanspec with the wrong info

I solved this problem by changing my router to an AX89X. The AX86U and AX86S both had the issue. The AX89X doesn't, I'm guessing because it uses a Qualcomm chip, not Broadcom. The wireless log looks different on the AX89X, the firmware is probably somewhat different. However, I now want to...

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

That's MSRP though, I suspect the price will fall to around $200 within a year of release.

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

I suspect the reason they skipped 6 GHz here is because they kept the design with the detachable antennas - which may be a benefit to some people, if they want to use higher-gain antennas. I hope they release a Pro version with dual 10G ports.

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

By the way, there is a way to get a second 2.5G port on the AX86U by using a USB 3.0 dongle. Far from an elegant solution, but it works. Search this forum and you'll find the thread where someone did it. So if you're looking at the BE86U vs. the AX86U mainly for the 2.5G ports, you may not need...

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

Well 2.5G is certainly better than 1G, but anyone who pays for 3G+ speeds is going to want to access that on a single device. Imagine paying for 10G internet and settling for 2.5G on any one device, that's madness. You would never get this router for that. So the 10G is mostly pointless, just...

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

I image searched the router and found these recent images on a Chinese website: https://www.chiphell.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2619679 Not a big fan of the aesthetic tbh, but it's ok. It's like they took the AX86U and made everything a little worse looks-wise. But this is subjective...

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

Surprised that it would be the same price as the AX86U, considering it's tri-band and has 4x 2.5Gbe LAN and (dual?) 10GbE WAN. Seems unbelievable.
