Finally Sick of UBNT. Need AP -Without- Corp. Network

yup, a couple of rMBP. Indeed, I looked at Cisco too (9115AX and 9117AX) but the offering was a bit on the expensive side. Looking forward to the new APs!

Finally Sick of UBNT. Need AP -Without- Corp. Network

Yes I do have 3x3 clients. I also use wifi to stream quite a few IP cams and a variety of other uses so the total bandwidth matters. The TP link offering is one more I could consider. Thanks! I have been looking at Aruba, Zyxel and Engenius...

Nothing wrong with the rev1. The two potential reasons would be: 1. Being bottlenecked by the internal gigabit limitation bug which I still need to test to see if I am affected. A back of the enveloppe calculation shows that actually 2.5gbe uplink is about just right for a 3600mbps wifi AP...

Finally Sick of UBNT. Need AP -Without- Corp. Network

I am now tempted to get some rev3 units to replace my rev1... will first need to validate whether I have the gigabit bug... but otherwise have been very happy with my rev1 units.

Only 1 Spatial Stream on a 2x2 Card

Very likely a faulty card or a bad/shorted antenna connector on the card. I would replace the card.

and again v3 has an updated chipset: IPQ8072A vs. IPQ8072 of the v1/v2. The A version of the qualcomm chip is a significant update as it enables OFDMA in both directions. The FCC filing pictures shows a completely different PCB as well.

Very nice. Thanks for reporting. I am honestly very happy with my version 1 EWS377AP units and am just curious as to what rev2 and rev3 provide. It seems like rev2 potentially would be equivalent of the ECW230 with a different ethernet chipset? And rev3 is a completely different PCB with an...

Yeah I am a cloud skeptic for this kind of things though. I see the value of the mobile app for some use cases but I even much prefer not to need one at all.

Does the cloud controller have that much more to offer vs ezmaster? As I went to download ezmaster, I was offered a 100% off coupon for a skykey so I took it. It got shipped by newegg and I must say that it is pretty good. It has almost everything you need and none of the useless and...

    WD my Cloud PR4100

I don't think you understand how RAID5 works. Better go research it. The behavior you are describing is perfectly normal and there is no such thing as a hot spare in RAID. They are mutually exclusive and conflicting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_RAID_levels#RAID_5...

Use Samsung Evo 860 SSD in small NAS?

I actually can see that SSDs provide a huge boost in performance in NAS use, not just for sustained throughput but also for random seek latencies. The endurance is the greatest concern with these SSDs but must be put within context and comparison of their HDD equivalents. The wear of the...

    Managed Multi-Gigabit Switch List

It’s a good idea for comparison but not sure if you want to treat every port the same way? Or price per multi gig port only? How to treat the SFP+ port?

    Managed Multi-Gigabit Switch List

There seems to be quite a few thread on this topic for people looking to upgrade beyond the long lasting gigabit standard. Increasing number of devices from motherboards to wireless APs to NAS are starting to include 2.5gbps NICs and I myself have upgraded my entire network. I thought I would...

    News QNAP QHora-301W Wi-Fi6 Router

Indeed too rich for my blood as a router only but certainly as an AP only, it may work. And yeah, I must be old because I find these videos to be a complete waste of time and much prefer reading a review or a spreadsheet...

    News QNAP QHora-301W Wi-Fi6 Router

Very enticing product! Too bad that for my useage case, I don't really want my router and my wireless AP to be at the same location.
