    Draytek 2920n

I have the 2920n here now. On the wireless side I can get an average of 7.5MB/s (g/n mixed, 2,4GHz 20/40MHz) in a location where the WNDR delivers 16MB/s @ 5GHz. Hard to say if I should keep the WNDR as AP, it'd be a bit of a waste of energy, even if I return the 2920n and just get one...

    Draytek 2920n

so Westyfield2, if you wanted VPN, you'd also get a separate Router (any recommendation) and keep the WNDR3700 as AP? Apparently there are no highly rated wireless routers with decent VPN implementations.

    Draytek 2920n

so you'd recommend using the WNDR3700 as AP and get a decent VPN Router to put in front of that? edit: why do you rekon that the 2920n (wireless) version is overpriced? At least here in germany it's only 40€ more (200€ vs 160€).

    Draytek 2920n

I ordered the 2920n yesterday. Will report back. I'm a bit confused with Drayteks offers though: 2130n 2920n both are new. The 2130 has a four times great WAN 2 LAN throughput though. Shouldn't the higher numbers mean higher performance? Since I wouldn't want my VPN speed limited to the...

    NetGear SRXN3205

I'm also interested in this one, I want a VPN Router. I now have a netgear WNDR3700, which is superfast (130Mbit/s over n-draft) and I also have a 100Mbit/s cable connection, so I basically have the same question. I can't seem to find anything that does a good job of routing, VPN AND wireless...

    DS410 RAID5 Performance small files

Hi, after I received my DS410 last week I did some performance tests. The files have been generated via console to represent the exact sizes. Here is the test environment. Computer: Intel C2D E8400 @*4,3 GHz 4GB DDR2 RAM HDD: WD20EARS Windows 7 Professional Router: Netgear WNDR 3700 (Gbit...

    WNDR 3700 - low/fluctuating torrent performance?

TCP/UDP Port forwarding is on in both cases (old Router and this one), connections are optimal (green smiley in Vuze) and I'm using default cache settins. Max connections is at 400 globally and 200 per torrent. @tipstir what do you mean by "are the numbers moving fast or slow"? The download...

    WNDR 3700 - low/fluctuating torrent performance?

I bought the router two weeks ago and was thrilled by its performance but yesterday, when I tried to download some Linux ISOs and the performance just fluctuates insanely. I know, you guys will claim its the torrent and the seeders but NO, I've tried all kinds of torrents with thousands of...

Extremely Disappointing: Apple Airport Extreme Reviewed

a friend of mine has one and is happy with it too (ok performance) yet it can't touch the netgear wndr3700. I've got me one last week and I have 144Mbit/s upload from Macbook Pro to Samba-Share in Network and 100Mbit/s in the other direction. I'm VERY happy with the wireless performance since I...

    warning! synology photostation 4 unusable

rofl.... those conversion times are just pathetic! Is there no way to generate thumbnails on a PC, let's say, one second per image (set dimensions and naming?!) and then copy those to a thumbnail folder or such? Don't know Photostation, no idea, but I would presume that's a possibility.

How does the newer Linksys WRT610N v2 (also known as E3000) compare to the WNDR3700?

I got me the WNDR3700 some days ago, the performance is simply off the charts. I have to agree though, the firmware sucks and DD-WRT for it is only beta right now :(. I'm just hoping for a quick support. Using a Macbook Pro I get 18MB/s uploading 4GB ISO files from MBP to LAN and 12MB/s LAN to...

    DS410 performance - significance over DS410j?

I've been reading alot (!) on these and my best shot these days is: Synology has the better Webinterface Qnap has better build quality & obvious accessability with no need to dismantle the unit to install/replace hdds Qnap devices are quieter Qnap had the better performance until DS1010+/710+...

    Qnap 410 or Synology 410(j)

sine this is exactly my price area as well, i'd also love to get an idea of how well it performs. Can't find a proper comparison. I guess there is still quite some headroom for the DS410+. Anyone?!

    DS410 performance - significance over DS410j?

thanks, glad to hear you're happy with the unit. Any comment on how loud the unit is? Many claim the Synology Units are quite noisy. Since I get very little feedback or recommendations I figure I might as well just jump into the NAS ocean and order one. I'm thinking I might just get the DS410...
