So from what I understand I should choose e.g. Quad 9 in the DNS Server filter settings, Prevent client auto DoH = Yes, and lastly under the Preset servers choose Qaud 1 & Quad 2 addresses. Is that part correct? I've also removed the client DNS encryption on each device.

Just made the jump from 388.8_4 to 388.9_2 and I noticed a few things like an Asus Agreement that I had to agree to, and a new section under Firmware Upgrade called Security Upgrade, that seems I have no option with it either. Feels like a back door has been installed with this latest firmware...

Well it seems to be working properly now after the factory reset. I've only checked on it twice since and the correct currently active devices are showing. This is the first time that's happened to me, or lets say that I've noticed.
Checking my router to see what boxes and devices are connected and I notice a shut down PC gets activated to the client list. So I shut off the wireless router it's connected to, then a few min later the powered down dedicated wireless router gets activated to the client list.
