Hey guys,
Sorry for the very delayed response here. All seemed fine until recently when it started giving me problems like it did when I first put this up.
I think I need to get another N66 and just put it downstairs and use it as a AP. I'm not sure what else to do at this point.
Yeah I turned off xfinity. That seemed to be the culprit actually.
Yes, I can't explain why that powerline ethernet extender is so darn poor on wifi. when you plug into it, it's excellent. My only other idea is if I put my old netgear WNDR3700 router downstairs and use a powerline ethernet...
I guess I can get a used one...

Or a used ac66u...
so the AC-56U is better than a AC-66U?
So what is the point of a newer generation ac radio if it wouldn't benefit me (or others?) in anyway?
I guess this topic has really veered off, but how would one setup the 2 routers (one AP, one bridge off powerline Ethernet)? Would they both be named the...
Hey there,
I did put 2.4 on 20mhz for the last test. I will leave it on that if I get better reception as well.
I'm sure having the two routers close enough and with it broadcasting it's signal, it hindered performance (especially 2.4 ghz)
In a synopsis, disabling the xfinity helped my signal...
Is there an in-network speedtest I can do?
Perhaps I can loginto a specific computer in the house via ip and go to a url and do a connection speed test?
All good trouble shooting. Let me finish eating my before work snack and I'll do another live video and see what happens!
What would "ac" bring to the table for me? (ac1900, ac2600, ac3100, ac5300!?)
and if i'm getting 90mpbs near the router, what should I be theoretically getting on the...
What are the benefits of AC5300 over AC3100?
Been looking at the Netgear R7800 (X4s) as well which is a AC2600 iirc. That one seems to be MU MIMO ready out of the box
no wireless computer devices in there. The only thing are 2 receivers in the 500-900mhz range for weather station and ADS-B receiver. All keyboards and mice and wired in the room. no bluetooth headsets.
The house does have a z-wave alarm system throughout, but none of the z-wave stuff is in the...
You quoted the answer to your question lol.
1 is a Vtech CS6719 home phone operating on 1.9ghz. the thing next to that is a portable radio charger which isn't on when being charged. There are no other 2.4 devices.
I'm willing to spend the money if it'll improve performance in the house (range and speed)
I could put the spare N66U downstairs if it helps, but then I assume it will be the bottle neck and I'll lose out on the advantage the AC3100 would give me.
the Galaxy S7 is MU-MIMO so at least the 2...
Just don't see what can interfere besides the xfinity thing which I'll make sure to disable if it's from me.
it's on 20/40. I mean even at few feet from router it's horrible. The cordless phone base (the main base) is 1.9ghz (vtech CS6719) so I'm not sure if that could be it. the other thing...
I'll check that when I get home and try to disable it. worst case scenario, I'll cover it in alum foil lol.
So what can I do to improve I have going on now? That's really the only location I can put the router. the desktops are hardwired into the router so...
I'm still baffled why the 2.4ghz...
