    RT-BE86U vs RT-BE92U

Funny you mention this. We lost power for an hour these evening and the BE86U refused to reconnect to the wan, even after a reboot and then a power cycle. I plugged my old AC86U back in and it connected just fine. Went back to the BE86U and now it finally connects to FIOS again. Maybe I simply...

    RT-BE86U vs RT-BE92U

Thanks for the responses. I ended up getting the RT-BE86U. I loaded Merlin on it and so far it’s running great. Hopefully it lasts as long as my old RT-AC86U did.

    RT-BE86U vs RT-BE92U

What about the AX86U Pro? Will that also get updates for the next 3 years?

    RT-BE86U vs RT-BE92U

My 6 year old AC86U is finally dying on me, forcing me to reboot it multiple times a day. Originally I was looking at the 92U last year for 6ghz but I’ve since realized I don’t need 6ghz right now. I looked at getting a AX86U PRO but it’s out of stock locally and Amazon says it’ll take a week to...

    ASUS RT-BE92U

Do you know if Merlin on the RT-BE92U supports vlan tagging?

    ASUS RT-BE92U

Merlin support is great news. I was on the fence about trying this router. When a release version comes out I’ll finally try it as an upgrade to my old AC86U. I’m interested in seeing if it’ll have enough range on 6ghz to cover my whole 2 bedroom apartment.

Would an ASUS RT-AXE7800 be a good upgrade to from an ASUS RT-AC86U?

What about TP-Link? This morning I found the AXE-5400 and the AXE-7800 and are both within my budget. Does TP-Link compare favorably to ASUS?

Would an ASUS RT-AXE7800 be a good upgrade to from an ASUS RT-AC86U?

The 86U has been a great router, albeit overkill for my use. I don't use any of the advanced features on it besides the VPN server to connect to my network remotely. Still, I'm thinking about replacing it because almost all of my devices are now either ethernet, Wifi 6, or 6e. I live in a two...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

So I have a RT-AC86U on 384.17. I‘m having zero problems with it. After reading this thread I’m not upgrading to 384.19. My question is, can I safely stay on 384.17 or do I need to upgrade to 384.18?

Time to replace my wifi router/ap, suggestions?

1 missing surge protector is exactly why I'm in this mess. The lightning came in from outside my apartment and was powerful enough to trip circuit breakers. One surge protector had to be replaced as the protection light went out after the hit, but everything attached to it was and is fine...

Time to replace my wifi router/ap, suggestions?

About 4-6 weeks ago, lightning struck my place. Had a few things die, and some others are now starting to give out. Next thing that finally gave up the ghost was my ASUS RT-N66U. It's been a reliable workhorse, but was never quite the same after the lightning strike that took out the FIOS...
