    [RT-N66R] TV setup problem

Thanks Zirescu. Had to find out how to ping the router (youtube) which led to a little better understanding of what my ip, subnet, dns are, and re-plugged in that info along with an alternate dns (from the router info) and finally got it to work. May not understand it much at this point (enough...

    [RT-N66R] TV setup problem

IP and Gateway addresses ENTERED in the TV network setup screen only differ by the last number , 118 and 1 respectively which is what is shown in the router. And that passes the test. So I assume I entered the correct info. But the Gateway Ping (whatever that is) fails and the TV won't connect.

Is NAS the right way to go?

I know I'm stuck in my ways somewhat being 70+, but I just am not comfortable ceding control to a second party. I still have hard feelings toward Apple (especially the late Steve Jobs) when promised the Apple II GS line would be continued after the MAC was introduced. The $$ invested at the time...

    [RT-N66R] Applying Settings Hangs

Thanks for responding Joe. I don't follow however. To get into the GUI interface of the router I have to enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser as I understand all Asus RT-N66R users have to. Once in, I'm trying to setup users in the "USB Application>Network Place (Samba) Share Cloud/Disk" section. I...

Is NAS the right way to go?

Just read that awhile ago. https://www.thurrott.com/cloud/62838/dropbox-gets-back-to-basics-drops-email-and-photo-services That is one of my biggest concerns as to get my kids to upload their photos to "my cloud", it can't be problematic.

Is NAS the right way to go?

I heard that Dropbox is dropping photos anyway. The trouble with online clouds is most of them don't support raw formats to view.

    [RT-N66R] Applying Settings Hangs

For educational purposes I was attempting to setup a HDD on the USB port and interact with it from the internet which I succeeded in doing. However, while attempting to add other users to be able to do the same under USB Application>Network Place (Samba) Share Cloud/Disk, the "Applying Settings"...

Is NAS the right way to go?

Thanks guys. A NAS and online backup and using VPN with authentication sounds like what I want to accomplish. Now the BIG problem is educating myself on how to do all this and understand it all at the same time .

Is NAS the right way to go?

Hope you guys can give me some advice. I would like to setup a central depository for my family photos that is easily accessed from the internet so that my out-of-town kids can easily upload their photos to, download each others photos from, and be able to look at any of the photos at anytime. I...
