Just wanted to indicate that I have upgraded successfully from this default ASUSWRT firmware (386_43588) to the Merlin firmware (386.3_2). No issues found on the RT-AX58U and everything works as expected thus far.

Wow, these temps are just insanely high for just a wifi router and not a dsl - wifi router combination! Anyway I think this is ASUS trying to nudge people into upgrading to one of their WiFi 6 routers (almost like MS is doing with Windows 11).

Thanks for this. Also was wondering about this. Glad that I'm always running in Wireless Router Mode instead of AP mode which I've tried a while back but didn't like the limited amount of controls it gave me.

I find often that changing the wifi channel to a less congested one works to get a network connection back. Site survey should list the channels that other wifi devices around you are using.

I never got that message to reset the router but after installation I just pressed the reset button and then did manual setup of the network. I also did the upgrade using WAN.

Worked fine for me with the same router. I did however remove my USB disk from the router after I've installed the firmware and before I manually reset the router by using the reset button on the device. Moved from 378.56_2 to 380.68_4 and works great!
