Advice on setting up 2 routers

Of course it has to go through layer 2 because it doesn't know the MAC of the DHCP server and sends out a broadcast on that layer so the frame gets forwarded. That doesn't mean it is a layer 2 protocol. Switches don't dpo I guess that settles it then. Anyway, of course the DHCP will have to...

Advice on setting up 2 routers

DHCP is not a layer 2 protocol. The device sending the DCHP request uses the IP 255.255.255.255 with a source of 0.0.0.0 to the subnet it is in. http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/definition/DHCP I don't see how a switch at layer 2 would affect a broadcast domain. Switches separate...

Advice on setting up 2 routers

http://study-ccna.com/collision-broadcast-domain/ DHCP is a layer 7 protocol. You are describing a cascaded router setup. The routers in my diagram are not cascaded. They are connect to the HH2000 switch.

Advice on setting up 2 routers

Router's separate broadcast domains. If I send out a broadcast on network 192.168.2.0/24, it will not get past the Asus router. The setup I posted does in fact have multiple DHCP servers, 3 in fact. Although, you necessary don't need a DHCP server on the HH2000 and could just statically assign...

Advice on setting up 2 routers

It sounds like the ISP gateway is blocking it. Simplest method is what I described earlier. It should allow all your devices to communicate with each other without much configuration. Or you could put the routers on their own subnet and do static routes. Most consumer grade routers to my...

Advice on setting up 2 routers

Yes it is possible. However, since you can't bridge the HH2000, I would have it as the DHCP server and put the other 2 routers in "Access Point" mode, which will turn off DHCP and NAT on those routers.

Can you post some pictures of your router's configuration(wan, lan)?

What is your subnet mask? 255.255.255.224?

    Router & Acess Point(s) Setup

Harm? no. If you don't set your router to "AP" mode, then you are probably double NATing, which causes its own problems. I gave you instructions for the best method to use earlier. Up to you now...

    Router & Acess Point(s) Setup

You can connect it like that but the router's wan side should be connected to the switch. Esentially with AP mode, turns the router into a glorified switch since it turns off most of the router's functions.

    Router & Acess Point(s) Setup

    1. Set the CODA as the DHCP server and Gateway 2. Set the routers in "AP" mode and either assign the router a static IP or get from the DHCP server. This disables NAT and DHCP 3. Other than some minor configuration settings you might want, you are done. *Each Router's WAN side should be...

    Dual WAN issue

That's what I meant to say, Load Balancing and Failover. I was tired when I typed it out, sorry. I corrected it in the post. Anyway, any ideas why it is acting like I described?

    Dual WAN issue

Have Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.33 beta 1 Got a T-Mobile Galaxy S3 with Wicked ROM. When I try to do "Load Balancing" mode, the phone tether shows "connected" and so does my Time Warner connection. However when I check my IP address by typing "whats my ip" in Google, it displays my IPv6 address for...

    Asus AI Cloud

I've had some connections issues like that in the past and I believe it was Windows putting the NIC in sleep mode. I disabled the option to allow Windows to shutdown the NIC and my problems disappeared. Not saying it is your problem but worth a shot.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.33 Beta 1 available

Having an issue with the Dual Wan Load balance. When I enable it and use my phone as the secondary, it will only load IPv6 addresses. I check my ip with Google and it displays my temporary windows IPv6 address for some reason. I have a Hurricane Electric tunnel broker account setup on my RT-N66R...
