    Range tests on a GT-AC5300 vs a AX3000...

Anyone seen any tests like this anywhere? I've searched the forums, googled quite a bit, no joy. I'm trying to decide if the ac5300 would cover more house (quite a few walls) than the ax3000. Central location. No wifi 6 needed, only a single router. And, only between these 2 routers. Thanks!

    GT-AC 5300 backup

To my surprise, Asus released firmware for the GT-AC5300... it's 386_41793. I updated mine last night.

Question on browsing in to a remote router.

Great point, thanks. I could see myself not doing that, then trying to figure out why I couldn't get in. Thanks, cap.

Question on browsing in to a remote router.

Ok, I follow that. I will be getting the new router tomorrow, and start playing with it. I've never set up a vpn server, much less used one before, so it'll be another learning adventure. Thanks.

Question on browsing in to a remote router.

You are right in all of that, thanks. All I need is to remote into the router, as the only other devices are the one laptop, and 3-4 rokus. That's why I was wondering, based on other thread comments, how to set that up, on the router, so I can get into the router. The laptop is hardly used...

Question on browsing in to a remote router.

I want to stay away from teamviewer, although I am familiar with it and have used it. I prefer going straight into the router, as dad only has a laptop, and only uses that for emails. The other day we had a conversation, where it took 30+ minutes to get him to the point I could get him to start...

Question on browsing in to a remote router.

If someone could point me in the right direction, articles, etc, that'd be great. I will have a router in-hand in a couple days, and am setting it up for my dad. I can flash firmware, etc. What I don't know is how to set it up so I can log in from remote (another state) to do any maintenance...

    Question on router ranges...

Ok, I'm intrigued by a lot of the merlin features. I'm afraid I am lost in the area of the 3rd party addons, where he talks about Ent and the other, and uninstalling the download manager, etc, so I would not go near there. The screenshots on the page, are those without using any of those...

Does anyone have a working AiMesh with 45+ devices

Not exactly the same hardware, but a little bit about my journey into Aimesh for the first time, lots of help from OE, L&LD, and others, got me up and running to this day: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/aimesh-setting-question-on-a-rx55.67685/post-633516

    Question on router ranges...

Does it matter if I'm not running merlin? I was under the impression that the asuswrt and merlinn were 2 separate firmwares? Do I have that wrong?

    Question on router ranges...

I am currently running 40987 I think, and that's been pretty stable here at home, with all three routers. I would be willing to use this version for him, but was wondering about jumping to the asus official release while I'm on as remote. If that path to upgrade is not available, I would just...

    Question on router ranges...

I think I was a little muddy with that last question. I currently do not run merlin. I was talking about the RC betas releases from the ASUSWRT official thread... if I am running an RC candidate, will I be able to update to the -official- release (from the asus site) after running any RC...

    Question on router ranges...

Ah, ok, thanks again. One more hopefuly easy question... More towards the firmware... Can the release firmware on the forums here be updated to the asus official release firware, via the update button on the router? Or are they 2 independent packages? Thanks!

    Question on router ranges...

Thanks for all that. Gives me items to think about. Is it true that the ax3000 is actually the ax58u?
