    You can always try the merlin firmware. Mine was running good until this last asus firmware and wifi speed degraded. I tried the hard reset and built up again from no backup restore. Still didn't fix it. So I moved over to merlin since I used to run it on my AC86U. I have not had any issues...

    Well after testing I decided to move back to the Merlin build and also don't see this issue. So no impact of wifi speed with merlin or previous Asus stock build. But it I load the latest firmware from asus as off today, hard reboot the router and even do a full stock hard reset to default...

    Isn't the Merlin firmware built off the stock asus core of their firmware. My understanding is Merlin cant or doesn't remove any of the asus core function or code and just adds some extra features.
