ZenWifi XT8 vs RT-AX86U

What settings should be changed from default? I keep having issues with speeds on the main node after 12-24 hours of use. Sometimes I can't even connect to one of the nodes every once in a while. Should I separate the 2.4 and 5ghz bands? Any other suggested settings?
