    Did I make the right choice? ...buying a new AC wireless standard router now?

    You mentioned that you had some devices connecting to the router with Wireless G. Just keep in mind, no matter how new your router or access points are, if ANY device uses an older standard, all the devices will stoop down to the lowest standard. So even if you get a Wifi 6 (ax) or Wifi 5 (ac)...
