Has anyone been able to successfully block URLs under the Firewall tab? AX86U Pro with latest Merlin firmware. No matter what URL I enter in the deny list, I can still access it from my devices. I've even rebooted the router after making the changes but still no luck.
Updated my AX86U Pro and working well. A few things I noticed under the advanced wireless settings:
1. Under the 2.4GHz band, "Preamble" has been renamed to "802.11b mode". The selectable options in the drop-down remain the same - Short and Long. I think this might be mis-labelled as I...
1) I had reached out to Asus a while ago and asked them the same question. According to them - yes, the “multi-user mimo” option is for AC and the “ofdma / 802.11ax mu-mimo” option is for AX.
2) I don’t think you can for AX because as you said (and as Asus also said), ofdma and mu mimo are...
UPDATE on this.
Tried again, and now, DoT configured on my in-laws’ router (Bell ISP) works fine. So, Bell can’t be blocking port 853. Perhaps they were at one point because this wasn’t working at all when I first tried a few months ago.
However, when using a DoT config profile on my iPhone...
Thanks again. Yes, I’m using DoT to an upstream resolver with filtering (malware protection). The only one enabled is Rebind Protection. The other two settings are disabled. If there’s no harm and no overhead with Rebind Protection, I’ll just leave it enabled.
Hello. If using an upstream resolver that already has rebind protection, is it of any value to also keep it enabled on the router? Any harm in keeping it enabled? Does it add significant overhead?
Yes. With a DoH profile installed on my iPhone, everything works fine when I’m connected to my in-laws’ wifi (Bell ISP). It’s just too bad there’s no DoH option on Asus routers. Maybe something @RMerlin can consider for a future fw release (if it's not too much effort to implement).
OK, I’ll do that next time I’m there. Thanks.
Too bad there’s no DoH option on Asus routers as DoH seems to work fine with Bell internet (tested with a DoH profile on my iPhone), and would’ve been an easy workaround for encrypted DNS.
DoT is working perfectly fine for me on Merlin 3.0.0.6. My ISP is Rogers (Canada). My in-laws’ ISP is Bell, and when DoT is enabled (either on the router or locally on a device connected to the router), the internet doesn’t work at all…ping tests time-out, nothing loads, nada. Their router is...
My in-laws have Bell FTTH internet with a Gigahub gateway and an Asus AX86U Pro configured in PPPoE passthrough. The Asus is on the latest 3.0.0.4 Merlin FW (not 3.0.0.6).
When I was there today and connected to their WiFi with my iPhone that has a DoT config profile installed, I wasn’t able to...
