Use of hostname instead of IP address for port forwarding source IP

Hi-- I have a remote location that rsyncs to a NAS on my local network. I've configured port forwarding to allow the remote location's IP address as the source IP. Unfortunately, the remote location does not have a static IP. Is there any way to use the remote location's DDNS hostname in...

LAN access over OpenVPN on Merlin 384.16 [solved]

Well, hell, y'all, when I thought about what I could/couldn't do, WF seems very obvious in hindsight. (to be embarrassingly honest, I had configured WF as you mentioned...but on the remote/VPN PC, not the LAN resource I was trying to reach--DUH!). @AurelM, thanks for the explicit...

When the Xfinity router is in bridge mode, it doesn't offer much in terms of configuration--so forwarding ports is not an option. I'll look into getting my own...

Port forwarding doesn't seem to actually open ports

Ah, sorry, I meant OpenVPN server. Regarding removing the port 53 rule, the presence of the rule wouldn't affect the connection issues, correct? The only harm is a potential security threat, right?

I’m running an ASUS RT-AC1900P with Merlin WRT 384.16 firmware. I’m trying to get a Liftmaster/Chamberlain 828LM (device that enables me to open my garage door from online) gateway working. This device requires the following ports open (per...
