    Thoughts on GT-AXE11000 as AP

THX but I wasn't asking for overall design help, got that all under control. My question was specific to the AXE11000 and it's longer term evaluation as a stable node, specifically as a wired AP. THX again.

    Thoughts on GT-AXE11000 as AP

Thanks but IMO AiMesh offers more troubles than benefits. Managing individual wired APs is more flexible and stable. Plus you get more options for your APs to fit the individual needs.

    Thoughts on GT-AXE11000 as AP

Current network is RT-BE96U main node Wired APs 3xRT-AX88U (non-pro) RT-AX86S 2xRT-AC3100 (garage and shop nodes) NO AIMESH and no plans to give it another try!!!! I'm considering the use of an ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 given it's current $200 price point. One of my AC3100 APs will be...

Another 3.0.0.6 quirk, using bridge devices

Ya, IIRC I began adding this years ago when I needed Windows name services (I think) for work projects I'd tinker with at home occasionally. I now have scripts with it embedded in them by history. No problem to ferret them out and fix them. Plus this issue is on a vanilla install at my...

Another 3.0.0.6 quirk, using bridge devices

Removing the "local" for the domain fixed it. I'll go back next week and see if that also solves the issue with the TP-LINK bridge to his shop! Thanks all.

Another 3.0.0.6 quirk, using bridge devices

Interesting. I need to see what his firmware revision is but I know it was current. Also his is the 4 tuner but I can't believe that's the issue, I'd assume it's the same networking. Base address is 192.168.200.X and I typically set a "local" for the domain. I'll be over there in a couple...

Another 3.0.0.6 quirk, using bridge devices

Nope, no VLANS and I tried connecting to the "base network" as well as the guest.

Another 3.0.0.6 quirk, using bridge devices

Over the weekend I helped a friend add a SiliconDust network tuner for his PLEX server. The only antenna access location has no access to a wired ethernet port and the SiliconDust tuners don't support wireless. I pulled out an old AC68 from the bin and configured it as a media bridge to...

    Release ASUS RT-BE86U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38984 (2025/08/11)

I've been a HUGE fan of ASUS routers for years because they did such a good job on the firmware (and Merlin of course). With the more recent history of firmware complexities/bugs in releases and pricing creep, that love affair is fading as time marches on.

    Release ASUS RT-BE86U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38984 (2025/08/11)

Suggesting a factory reset is all well and good but this is my main router and a "ground zero" reconfig can take more than an hour. I know it's ill advised but has anyone recently uploaded a saved setting file over top with success? I'm going to the ASUS support site as well but with all the...

    Slow and droping wifi 2.4ghz

TOTALLY AGREE! My RT-BE96U has been more of a headache than a joy. It was a "let's play around since I have a couple WIFI7 devices that turned into a nightmare. My RT-AX88U network was pretty rock solid (non-PRO 3004 FW).

Do you have a spectrum scan like from WiFi Analyzer or other?

    RT-AC3100 Firmware choice

That's what I thought and what I've done in the past as well. Always like to ask in case something's changed! THANKS for the response!

    RT-AC3100 Firmware choice

I still run 3 RT-AC3100 in wired AP mode out in the shop and garages. They're currently running Merlin 386.14_2 I see there's an ASUS release ASUS RT-AC3100 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_48322 dated 02/26/2025 on the ASUS website. Will there be a Merlin update coming along to incorporate...

3006 firmware branch not ready for prime time

YUP, that's exactly what I did, another AP just for the Honeywell :) :) Hopefully the "roll back" of the AX88 to 3.0.0.4 Merlin will fix this. We have to wait for a day when his wife isn't WFH :)
