    Finally bit the bullet and implemented the dictionary replacement init-start script for my Japanese RT-AC88U. Works no problem and now I have the latest firmware loaded.

    Good to know, thanks for that. I assume that if I'd purchased one from the USA rather than Japan, I wouldn't have had this issue in the first place?

    Does the firmware check the mac address for location identity?

    its an RT-AC88U and i've gone back to the previous firmware, which I guess I'm going to have to live with from now on :-(

    Updated OK, but now the language drop-down doesn't actually list any options and I'm stuck with the router in Japanese. Is this by design?
