Phloid01, what devices do you have on your LAN?
Please let me know if you have any of the following to see if we have something in common:
Draytek Router
Thecus NAS
Sky HD+ Box
Freenas
Intel AMT - Q87, Q77 VPro
HP Switches - 1810-24G V2
DLINK Switches
HP 6127 Deskjet
HP 6980 Deskjet...
In my case, just having the unit turned on and plugged into the LAN, with NO wireless clients connected - that's enough to cause a network loop or storm every few hours!
Weight
Does anyone know how much weight the casing of the RT-AC87U can take?
Just trying to make sure that this router really is suitable for use as a car jack / door stop etc.
It certainly isn't suitable for use as a router or WAP....
Same here
Hi,
I previously posted about the same problem:
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20282
I never got this fixed and my RT-AC87U is now gathering dust.
I tried all sort of configurations, including setting up new SSIDs and having NO clients connected, and...
I upgraded my RT-AC68U for the RT-AC87U just for that reason. The 68U was really slow on USB3 transfers, topping out for me at 11mb/sec.
Now I ebayed that unit and have the RT-AC87U, and USB3 transfers are the least of my worries. I want my RT-AC68U back :)
In the meantime I have my trusty...
I never got any particularly satisfactory response from them.
They claimed my RT-AC87U issues were due to my wall mounting the unit. Apart from that, they have never come back with any useful or practical advice, apart from saying that the second line team would look at the case. No further...
Agreed :)
Havent gotten as far as really testing the wireless performance yet on my router, since its never really been stable for long enough :)
I have to say the NAS performance is much better than RT-AC68U, but then again, the 68U was just really bad at that.
Thanks for the reply.
You are absolutely right that its difficult to maintain 100% compatibility with everything because of the wide range of equipment out there.
But are you saying some of the widely reported bugs just don't exist?
For example, have you tried using it in AP mode with a static IP address...
I've noticed the static mode doesn't work in DHCP. I've been using an IP bind on my main router to reserve the IP.
Using an intermediate switch and 8 hours now without a crash....
No, I have no other SSIDs of the same name, thanks.
I have seen those messages before, but not at the moment. I'm getting a few "miniupnpd[603]: sendto(udp_notify=6, 192.168.3.2): No such device" messages.
I've tried just about everything I can think of.
I have found that in Router...
Same Problem
I have the same problem in AP mode. Give it an IP address of 192.168.3.2 and then it goes and gets an IP address from DHCP!
I have to use a DHCP static reservation - that's the only way to get the AP to stay on a known IP.
This router is so flaky...
Hi All,
I'm now on my second RT-AC87U. I'm trying to use it in place of my previous RT-AC66U and RT-AC68U.
I'm using the RT-AC87U as a wireless access point and NAS on an LAN IP address of 192.168.3.2.
My main router is a Draytek 2860n on 192.168.3.1.
Every few hours, my internet...
