I could get the BE88U for 260$
@Jadehsn I did look at Firewall but none of them have SFP+ ports and the one supporting 10G (Gold Pro) is far away from beeing released.
that's also true. My other option would be to go OPNsense with a Protectli VP6650 or DEC850 (even a Minisforum MS-01 would be an option but I would prefer something fanless).
However those options cost 3 times more than what I can get the BE88U for..
I'm not really interested in the WiFi of the router as I have my own access points (3x Asus ET12).
I just need a router with SFP+ for LAN which can saturate my 10gbit as much as possbile. this BE88U seems to tick all the boxes but not sure how it compares to my current AX89X in terms of wired...
how does the BE88U compare to the AX89X when it comes to wired routing speed?
I don't care about WiFi but would like to saturate my 10gbit fiber connection as much as possible.
Currently having the AX89X and was thinking that the BE88U might be faster, closer to 10gbit wired.
Here you go. Had the same question some weeks ago.
I would say it's one of the best Asus routers and very mature. Especialy if you get revision B2.

Running the AX89X B2 revision since 2 weeks and it's rock stable. 0 issues and blazing fast. Most probably the best router ASUS has made. To bad it looks like s**t :D.
Well I had another look and unfortunatelly I can't see any RX/TX rates on my AX89X. All of them are connected by cable to the router via a 10g switch. On the ET12 AP same issues... only wifi RX/TX rates are shown. Any ideas?
Yes, I understood that but what is the difference if I set it as "AP" or as "AiMesh Router in AP mode"? The AX89X is already my router but with wifi radios disabled.
If I undersand right: "AiMesh Router in AP mode" functions as an AiMes router for other nodes to provide wifi setting. the AX89X...
I set it up as a normal AP and could configure it to my liking.
What is the difference between "AiMesh Router in AP" and normal "AP" mode? I want the routing and dhcp part to be handled by the AX89X (wifi disabled on it)
Only the ET12 should provide wifi in the house (for now. later I might add...
After 1 week of usage I am quite happy with the AX89X. Rock stable and no issues. WAN speeds are decent (7-8 gbps). On par with the Qnap... I guess this is the limit of current "consumer" routers for 10gbps.
However I have a small issue with the AiMesh node I added. It's an Asus ET12 (ehternet...
Thanks. I have almost the same set up as you. Using two TP-Link TL-SX105 switches (one in the living room and one in the office). Almost everything is on cable besides the Iphones and Ipads.
I'll try to set up the AX89X tonight and take if for a "ride" :)
The QNAP QHora-301W is actually really...
