    Can't Change RT-AC86U password

I was able to change using https://www.snbforums.com/threads/how-to-reset-encrypted-admin-password-via-ssh.77786/post-749920 answer. But after doing that I still couldn't change it in the web. I eventually took screenshots of the most critical areas and did a factory reset. That did solve the...

Setting up an AIMesh node - basic help

I had a problem a few months ago not being able to change my password. Did a reset and rebuild the settings from scratch then. I did get it working but not via wifi. I saw a youtube suggesting connecting via ethernet and then unplugging. That seemed to work although when unplugged it sat and...

Setting up an AIMesh node - basic help

I've had an RT-AC86U for a few years. I'm running almost most current merlin (just saw a new update this morning so I'm one back(386.5_2)). I have set up a mesh network but thought it would help so I bought another RT-AC86U First note. I have not tried to update the firmware as it is brand...

    Can't Change RT-AC86U password

I have tried it from another machine using a browser that I have done absolutely nothing to except a couple bookmarks and have the same problem. But given I don't use the browsers on that machine it was simple to uninstall chrome and re-install. Same result. I also tried Edge which I'm not...

    Can't Change RT-AC86U password

Is there a way to get a readable dump of my settings in case I end of doing a reset? Or, would it be reason able to do a save and restore? I actually have a save from today but I guess would do it again for the new password. Maybe reapply the current firmware? Newest firmware?

    Can't Change RT-AC86U password

I didn't need to recover my password. I know what it is. I can log in fine. It is just that the change dialog isn't accepting the current password. I was able to SSH in like the link. That actually resets the password back to admin which forces a password change. And that worked although a...

    Can't Change RT-AC86U password

will give that a try. Is there some bug with non alphas? I do have numerals, upper/lower case letters, and special characters. Not > 32 but is greater than 15. I tend to change the length when I change the password as a bit more security.
