Bought a new router every generation for past 5 years...the ac5300 for me personally, has been best out of the box experience out of any them. it comes ready to go to work out of the box, unlike the beta routers released last few years.

It feels weird doesn't it? Having a router that actually is delivering on what its advertising? A router that's not in beta retail mode? I haven't been able to shake what my perception of beta routers has become from past few years. It's just downright unnerving not looking forward, not...

I did finally give it a whirl yesterday, while it stayed connected, it was having issues maintaining a good upload speed on the guest network, as if guest network was throttled which it shouldn't be. I didn't spend too much time on it but will today.

That sucks, I've got a nestcam I've sorta got to give up on that just won't stay connected if I want smart connect on(worked on smart connect on ac3200). But given how well it's working otherwise, it's been a price I'm willing to pay.

Thanks for the help, was able to find it when you mentioned it previously...your a life saver, difference was instant....all the trouble spots are gone again, I have my BEAST back! funny that asus support wouldn't help with this but alls well that ends well....

Feel for ya, such a solid headset to have too. Can the headset be hard wired as well like some Bluetooth headsets have the option of? Obviously you'd lose the surround sound portion without the decoder but it could get you by as you seek out a long term fix?

Ahh, good ol 753. Wish I had a way to get that fw back. It didn't get drastically worse or anything like that with the upgrade but it was noticeably smoother on 753 for me. A shame they didn't post it

Left everything intact. The bands themselves have their same quality/distance/throughput. It seems like it's the smart connect that got worse. A few other devices failing to connect too. Contacted Asus, they won't give me the old fw

Anyone know of how to grab older fw? I was older then the .838 before I upgraded yesterday and performance for me has sunk considerably on the .838. My dead spots are back. The support site only shows .838

Yep, the numbers I got from day 1 have come down, at range but still happy. The range itself has not come down and the throughput at range is still strong enuf to where I won't be using the repeater. My nestcam will still disconnect for a half hour or so a day, my fire stick will not settle...
