TP-Link EAP225v3 AC1350 Wireless MU-MIMO Gigabit Ceiling Mount Access Point Reviewed

Shelf worked just fine. A bit more 5G drop off in the corners of the basement but my 20 yr anniversary is coming up so who cares. I have not tested band steering yet. Did notice an option to turn off the green LED.

TP-Link EAP225v3 AC1350 Wireless MU-MIMO Gigabit Ceiling Mount Access Point Reviewed

I was focused on dBi per antenna and not multiplying for 3 vs 2 antenna. Thanks for pointing out the error. Now I’m facing a less technical hurdle. My spouse doesn’t want the “ugly” device on the ceiling of the living room. “Why don’t you just set it on that bookshelf?”

TP-Link EAP225v3 AC1350 Wireless MU-MIMO Gigabit Ceiling Mount Access Point Reviewed

Thanks Val. I hadn’t thought about the shared bandwidth till you pointed that out. With free returns I decided to just order one and sort it out. In the end I tried both models and determined I can span the entire house with one EAP225. The EAP225 lists more antenna gain on both bands and I...

Router options for Verizon "gigabit" FiOS

Verizon installed my "gigabit" service today. Their website promises internet that is "Maxed out (Up to 940M/880M)". For those speeds I had to install the Speedtest Windows x64 App (web app will report erroneously low results). This is with my PC connected to the FiOS G1100 router and the ONT...

Router options for Verizon "gigabit" FiOS

Thanks Rhino! I think you answered each and every question. Correct. I vaguely recall the router was giving me some kind of trouble a couple years back so I banished it to the basement as a switch/AP and dug up my old WNDR3700. Along the way I had to talk Verizon into turning on the ONT...

Router options for Verizon "gigabit" FiOS

Called Verizon today and they will be upgrading my service from 50/50 to "gigabit" (really 960/840 or so). This gives me a reason to ditch my aging WNDR3700 and perhaps upgrade. At first I'll be running off their Quantum Router but looking for a 3rd-party solution if it gives better results...
