Hi Voxel, just dropped by and glad to see that you've updated to the latest Netgear firmware version. I have also now loaded it over the older v1.0.2.24sf firmware and up and running on v1.0.2.30sf now. So far looking good, no problems after installing without resetting nor wiping...- staticfree

Okay, sounds good. Your customized firmware is working solid for me now. I don't use all the extra fancy stuff like traffic metering, QOS or anything, so I can't speak to that area. Voxel, okay, I loaded the new 24SF firmware tonight and it is working just fine now. Netgear openvpn is working again with its own certificate keys. I see now in their script that there is a re-generate CA, keys and certificates routine that I suppose will make each Netgear router CA unique. But...- staticfree

Okay, better safe than sorry. :-) I'm not sure how exactly that Netgear CA is generated or working for sure but it looks like the CA file is hard coded in their firmware and if so, it will be exactly the same CA for everybody who uses it. I just remembered that I had returned a R7000 router a couple of years ago because of Netgear's poor openvpn implementation which does not allow users to generate their own unique certificates and keys. The port should be open as I am getting log entries of the Android client attempting to connect. Question for the client.ovpn file... Hi, yes, I saw that in the openvpn script... I had just tried to copy over all the files to the /etc/openvpn/config directory and restarted openvpn. It says it succeeded now but there is still a log message that says it " Could not determine IPv4/IPv6 protocol. Using AF_INET6". I re-downloaded...- staticfree

I am using the keys that are generated by the firmware. The android apps are using TUN UDP. I transfer the client smartphone.ovpn file to my Android phone and import it into the OpenVPN client app(s). But apps get failure to connect (some error messages say no TLS session found or something)...- staticfree

Need Help - Bricked My R7800
These reports scare me now. I hope this does not happen to my new R7800. ! Maybe there really is a hardware design flaw in these routers and that's why I am seeing them go on sale for lowered prices recently. Makes me wonder now.
