    an update. i created a ticket with asus they gave me the answer i expected, use the rescue program to update it. tried once with the 2nd to newest firmware and it failed after upload (what i wanted to do was to use this one then try the update the normal way to see if the issue was totally...

    got down to the step where i was flashing and same error......... even tried the current firmware version and got the same message. so hardware failure huh?

    full disclosure, the only time i restored from backup settings was when i originally set it up (which is totally pointless since all the settings i had to reset manually anyway) but i can see how that would at least start the snowball of badness I've gotten into here.

    thanks i'll give that a shot when i get home and hope it works, unfortunate if it's broken only had it for about a month and a half. (outside the amazon return window I think) i feel like i went wrong by restoring settings when i originally set it up but it's done several firmware updates since...

    ah, I should have specified that originally that I do not have a HDD plugged in to the router.

    having a real hard time updating firmware my router. how this all started was, out of nowhere the router was randomly rebooting in the middle of the night, sometimes during the day where I was unable to connect wired or wireless until rebooted again. so I thought i'd update the firmware...
