Right now I have multiple duplicate IP entries on the DHCP leases page for the Apple Watch as I’ve just been setting up mine and the wife’s new Series 6’s, some IP’s generated for the “Private Addresses” and now they have IP’s for their correct MAC Addresses.
I have QOS setup for class of service with just a handful of devices given higher priority on a device basis, for me the big one it breaks is my nice neat naming scheme I have in my routers “Network Map” page. Quite often the devices don’t share their proper names to the router or they end up...
Hi all just a tip for you with regards to Apple’s latest device updates that may cause issues on certain router setups.
If you are like myself I have my Asus router OCD level setup, every device has a proper name and icon under the network map page, and they all have their priorities assigned...
I’m still debating whether to switch back to the official release as I don’t really use many of the advanced features of Merlin‘s firmware, the only thing I use is FQ_Codel on the Adaptive QOS but even then I’m not sure how much of a performance boost that gives over stock firmware Adaptive_QOS...
Right now the router is working almost perfectly but I do have one issue with it and it’s that it decides it will reboot randomly.
When it’s up and running everything is working perfectly but just randomly it will reboot. I’m not sure if it’s a RAM usage issue or not. I have adaptive qos on...
When I posted this I was running Merlin 384.18 and now I am running 384.19 I am locked to channel 100 and this issue appears to be fixed for me.
On 384.18 it used to choose channel 108 or channel 64 and it was never very reliable, on some reboots It’d bounce between channel 108 and 64 randomly...
It needs to be enabled by default with the option to opt out i think.
There are probably a huge amount of people out there who have 3rd party routers for better wifi over ISP routers that have had a one time setup by a tech savvy mate or family member and then left alone and forgotten about as...
On the whole I think auto updates are a good thing, as mentioned above most people will setup the router and forget about it until something goes wrong with it. This way it will keep those users protected with the latest fixes just like the ISP’s do with their own provided routers.
I do however...
The 86U does have 2 LAN based WAN ports. Mine has the option of using the main WAN plus one of the standard LAN ports too.
However as I said above it might not be very reliable anyway.
The AC86U does support dual WAN but in my usage case its pretty flakey.
I have VDSL2 modem connected via the WAN port and a USB 4G modem hooked up via USB 3 as backup and upon initial boot it seems to switch between the connections no problems (I use it in failover and fallback modes) but after...
Definitely seems like they are working, hopefully even though the signal isn’t a huge amount stronger on the cameras it is enough for them to stay connected just that little bit better. It looks like they should stay connected a bit better and should solve your original issue.
