I do know what it is, I moved on to the minor details now. I do wish I would have worded my topic question differently though and my router having VPN options kind of threw me off.
Say all I wanted to run through the VPN was wireless media streaming box and a wired PC would I just configure the router to only make that box/PC go through the VPN only ? and would I still take a hit in the Mbps department for both devices ? would the NT-N66U handle the load just fine for two...
Okay I think I understand now.
Well for me it would be the privacy and visit websites streaming. So do I just pay the for the service and basically the way it works I go through them first before I connect to any websites of any kind ?
If I were to just use my PC I wouldn't need to fiddle with...
I have Asus NT-N66U and I noticed that in the routers webpage there is a VPN options like PPTP and OpenVPN. I'm interested in getting a VPN and I understand what it is but not sure what way is the best. So I have a few questions.
1. I've noticed that you can pay a small fee every month to a VPN...
I'm getting errors like the "Media Server Error – "Protocol Error DLNA 2104" and also the PS3 seems to disconnect itself from PSN kinda often. Also it seems like it takes twice as long to sign in PSN network and sometimes I get the network time out error. PS3 never had these problems before...
Well I got it for $90 actually and dam it works great. I've screwed around so much and wasted much time on this matter I'm not taking it down and sending other router back, it will do for a good while.
There's so much market hype to get to get people to buy these new AC router, and mostly all BS for most of the population. I bought a TP-LINK AC1200 it speed vs. the RT-N66U was the same cause guess what I'm not pushing anything close too or passed the 150Mbps marker, plus actually the range was...
OK, by the way range did not really change at all according to like 2-3 articles I red. Yes on speed if you actually need it and currently have internet speeds in the neighborhood of 150Mbps.
I ended up getting the Asus RT-N66U wow this thing is great, got it for $90. AC just not worth it in my opinion. By the time I could actually need AC router something else possibly better will be out.
I know those are available for reading and a good starting point, but those articles are not the be all end all on the matter, and it's not always agreed upon.
Just providing someone with links and say read this ! then what's the point of a forum, I still want people opinions and discuss it...
I don't remember which router it is but there was one I was looking at and I remember it said not WiFi certified yet, I was wondering if that matters when deciding to buy a new router ? Thanks
Would a Archer C9 or a Netgear R6400 Suffice ? What one you get and why ? Also is it a big deal if the Router is not WIFI certified, it only has a AC draft in place ? May not be saying that last part right but you know what I mean.
