Ok newb alert here. I have never used DNSMASQ or anything on the merlin router. i am a complete newb on scripts too. But this is what i wanted:
- Enable a VPN in X country
- All traffic from Device A to be pushed that VPN except ONE website, which goes through WAN
I think i can do all this in...
Sorry for sounding dense. What is an VPN exit IP address?
Example,
I am based in the UK and connect to a VPN in Poland. My exit IP is 1.1.1.1
My friend is based in Germany and connects to the exact same VPN in Poland. His exit IP is 2.2.2.2
Is that correct?
The exit IP will change...
Got an interesting one.
So I am using OPENVPN feature of the Merlin Router.
I have downloaded 5 x OVPN files from different countries and loaded them onto the router. All good.
All devices are going through VPN and up until an hour or so ago one site stopped working whilst the VPN is on...
I have an AX88U (non pro) and running firmware - 3004.388.7 but then i also see FW versions for this router that dont have the 3004 prefix e.g. 388.4, 388.5 etc.
Which one should i be using and what is the difference?
Are you dumb bruv? or is this a wind up?
The default SSIDs with a brand new out of the box router of this model presents two SSIDs by default BEFORE any settings are configured for the device. Those two SSIDs are ASUS_48_2G and ASUS_48_5G. Now a non-buggy boot up would allow an open connection...
It is absolutely clear as day the AC88U was factory reset to default 6 times in different ways. This is evidenced with the screenshot above, which is clearly part of the router setup process AND it had a pre-populated password set.
Is this a firmware bug then? What's the other explanations for...
Ok ASUS can go and suck my batty hole for starters.
I just mauled through the drawers and found a USB-C hub with a LAN port and connected to the MAC via ETH and managed to get to 192.168.1.1
First thing it asks is how you want to set up the router up blah blah balls and blah. You fill and...
Just power connected to the router. Nothing else.
They have a default SSID broadcasted. You'd think they'd give you the password on how to connect to them.
Well I haven't tried to connect to it but I just saw ASUS_48_2G come up and it has a padlock next to it.....this is annoying.
There is a PIN on the sticker underneath and I've entered that to no avail too.
Can't believe how difficult this is.
I'm assuming I reset it fine. I simply held onto the reset button for 10 seconds and let go. I'm presuming it worked hence the default SSIDs showing up.
Ill try the WPS reset method.
