I bought a DS111 in November of 2010 ($230, Amazon,) and two Samsung HD204UI disks. The DS111 has an eSATA port on the front panel, which comes in handy for transferring movies to the DS111 via a Rosewill RX-358 which houses the second HD204UI.
It is running DSM 4.0-2228 at the moment...
iwod,
I am with you. DS111 it is !!!
An HD204UI in a Rosewill RX-358-S BLK for interface with WIN7 Professional on a Gigabyte GA-785GMT-USB3 / Regor 250 / etc... (NTFS) (already own);
Combined with a DS111 on the LAN to the media center ... in another location ... (EXT4);
Just rip...
alfonz,
I am sure you may have seen it already, but here is a review on the DS211;)

alfonz,
But if you look carefully at page one (1) of the data sheet for the DS211, it has the eSATA port. Page two (2) does not ... so stay enthusiastic.

I believe alfonz is correct w/r/t the eSATA port.:) I noticed the same thing too comparing the DS111. When the DS211 data sheet is revised, my guess is that there will be an eSATA port on the front panel where there now appears to be a blank cover.
What is the processor type on these units...
