    PPTP Relay on Linux?

After a lot of google searches, I concluded that passthrough doesn’t work at all on pfsense. There is no implementation for it, and no inclination to create one. Outbound works for one client, but not for more than one (which is what I need). As I understand it, this is because of the nature of...

    PPTP Relay on Linux?

I run a new pfSense router at home, which works great. The only surprise is that I can no longer use my multiple Windows PCs to access an essential PPTP VPN (required for work), because PPTP is insecure and obsolete, and pfSense doesn't support PPTP passthrough. I am already intending to set up...

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

I think the network printer was manually set to use 192.168.1.200 as a static IP, which is why the conflict kept persisting. That printer is proving difficult to reconfigure. But the problem should go away now that I have my PC set to use a different IP. Crossing fingers.

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

I think I figured out my problem. It was actually a combination of problems. #1, a seldom used network printer (that wasn't even accessible via wifi) was setup to use 192.168.1.200. #2, even though I set my PC to use DHCP, there was a hidden preference for 192.168.1.200 (which I first noticed...

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

I did a bunch of additional troubleshooting to see if the VPN makes a difference. FYI, I do have split tunneling configured. But when I left the VPN inactive for a couple of days (over the weekend) and kept pinging the DNS every 5 seconds, I didn't have any network drops. Once I activated the...

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

At first the wireless icon doesn't change. I see network problems (VPN drops, DNS lookups fail, etc) before the wireless icon changes. Eventually the wireless icon will change and show a yellow exclamation point. Network status typically shows that I am connected to the network, but don't...

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

ColinTaylor, you are right. It is the loss of all network connectivity, rather than just the DNS. It just manifest as the loss of DNS because that is the network service that fails most often when I am trying to access the internet. I confirmed that when the problem happens, I can't ping even...

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

The R7000 is configured static. I could try using DHCP back to the AC66U. That would be an easy one to test.

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

That could be worth a try. Do you happen to know whether it is possible to save and restore settings between these different units? The firmware is very similar.

    Temporary Loss of DNS Server

I run an RT-AC66U with ASUSWRT-Merlin 378.55 as my main router with the connection to the internet. This router provides DHCP for all of the devices on the network, and also provides WIFI. It seems to work fine, except that it is a bit far from my desk. I also run a R7000 with XWRT-Vortex...
