    Makes me think of ones who care about MPG figures first when purchasing an automobile. Me? Who cares, I just get what I want, LOL! Currently we pay 6.5 cents/Kwh Our router runs 24/7/365, entertainment system, appliances are either on or on stand-by mode.

    Did you try bypassing router, just plug one device onto modem and see what happens.

    Trying to repair it? Lots of time on hand? Even if you suspect that chip, finding replacemnt maybe difficult. Also you'll need little more than multimeter to work on this type of problem. Ideally Huntron will make things easy or RF sniffing probe. Good luck.

    Switching to SSD for decreasing power cosumption

    Cost of power must be very expensive where you live. It is 7 cents per Kw/h where I live. My router has small NAS connected which serves our family's needs. All laptops(iOS, MS) have SSD. So far no SSD failure in any of them.
