ASUS Dual WAN Failover, Then Failback, Leaves Secondary LAN in "Hot Standby"

You are a staff member and you have amazingly missed all the below 1. The fact that I am merely repeating what the Code of Conduct reads 2. The fact that I am in fact responding to a rude comment 3. The fact that I am not the OP and didnt therefore choose the section where this issue is placed...

ASUS Dual WAN Failover, Then Failback, Leaves Secondary LAN in "Hot Standby"

I can confirm that rebooting will also make it switch to primary

ASUS XT8 w/ 2.5G multigig switch +XT8 nodes not working (need help)

Found this thread now that Greek ISPs offer 3gbps plans but apparently nothing I can do to use the bandwidth with the xt8s. And if I understand correctly, there is no viable setup for the nodes to be connected as router and aimesh nodes (backhaul) and at least utilise the 2.5gbps ports not even...

ASUS Dual WAN Failover, Then Failback, Leaves Secondary LAN in "Hot Standby"

Yes thats exactly right, if it fails to revert back to primary the apply button there does the trick. What I havent tried is whether rebooting the router would also make it switch back to primary, have you tried that? Because in that case, you could have daily scheduled reboots and thus ensure...

Yes I know this has been around for a while but I am all for stock firmware and simple solutions.

ASUS Dual WAN Failover, Then Failback, Leaves Secondary LAN in "Hot Standby"

I had the same issue and I found that enabling both an ip ping and dns checks in auto network detection resolved it and now it leaves my secondary wan as cold standby when reverting back to primary. Unfortunately it is still not 100% reliable as there is a small(er) chance that it will not...

Notification about backup 4G/5G connection set up every hour

Hi all, I have successfully set up dual wan with usb on asus xt8. Today I started receiving the “successfully set up back up usb 4g connection” from the app every hour and specifically at the XX:40 mark, as if removing and replugging the usb. Any ideas what this could be? I also changed the sim...

How to switch secondary WAN to Hot-Standby?

Will do although I dont care much given sim has unlimited data at a very low cost. One thing which is still unclear is how it decides to put the usb wan on cold or hot standby. Of course I prefer cold like it is now anyway, just wondering

How to switch secondary WAN to Hot-Standby?

Guys I stand corrected, after enabling the dns and ping checks it appears to be working flawlessly. Apparently when these checks are off, asus only considers a disconnected cable a failover situation. When on, it worked fine and very quickly when I simulated a no connection situation with the...

How to switch secondary WAN to Hot-Standby?

Hi all, I am running the tests as you described above with a WAN/USB failover/failback setup and when I unplug the ethernet cable it indeed switches to USB after a while. Similarly, when I plug it back it switches back to ethernet after a while (definitely a bit longer than the expected 6 secs)...

    Asus XT8 DNS madness

There is no fiber optics network outside of the bigger cities, your best bet would alsmot certainly be the below. Outdoor equipment offered is very decent. https://www.cosmote.gr/cs/cosmote/en/5g-wifi.html

    Asus XT8 DNS madness

Although the Greek Tel Commission has made it obligatory that ISPs cannot bind you down to their own router, it is very difficult to avoid using them altogether because fixed line VOIP is available through them and difficult to set up with third party gateways (passwords expire etc). In any case...
