    Question about auto channel selection

Yeah InSSider Home or whatever they used to call it is a bit long in the tooth now. I like either Acrylic Wifi (prettier) or Homedale (very lightweight but still configurable). They definitely interfere... if they are co-channel and start actively using the internet in the evening, it just...

    Question about auto channel selection

Posting this in the Merlin section because that's what I'm using (380.63_2 on a RT-AC56) and I'm thinking the behavior might be more narrowly defined. I live in a pretty rural area, but in this day in age I can still pick up signals coming from the properties to either side of mine, and between...

Set the router clock with a GPS receiver for under $70

This thread sent me on an archaeological dig through my boxes of e-junk (about half of it becomes useful again!) to find my own Pharos iGPS 500. I'm pretty sure it does support WAAS. PPS remains a bit of a mystery - the SIRF III did output PPS, the included USB to serial module is in fact a...

USB-AC56 and Etron USB controller problems?

Hi all, I was wondering if there was anyone here that used the same hardware combination as me (ASUS USB-AC56 and an Etron USB controller, specifically in my case an EJ168A). The fault here probably lies with the USB controller, but I feel like these problems were introduced in one of the more...

    USB-AC56 and Windows 10

The options you mention were actually present before - interestingly, you do have more options. I thought that Windows 7 and up all used the same driver, guess not. Preferred Band is an option I'd been wishing for. Comparison: (Win 7 x64, driver version 1026.6.1217.2013)

    Adaptive QoS / Netflix

It's set to HD. According to their rough guide on the side, my connection can accomodate it. In practice, once a stream is buffered, it uses much less than 5mbps, but it streams data in bursts - and those bursts saturate the connection for as long as they last.

    Adaptive QoS / Netflix

I have a feeling Netflix has changed up how they deliver their streaming video recently - In the last month, I've watched it change (via apps analysis in Adaptive QoS on an RT-AC56U) from "Netflix" to "SSL/TLS" to "Web File Transfer". So whatever, the Trend Micro module may or may not get...

DNS Caching Asus Stock / Merlin?

Close enough that I think I can ask here: So let's say "DNS filtering" proves effective and stops clients from side-stepping local DNS. What's the easiest way of figuring out what the offending clients are?
