I wish I had known this last year when I set up my dad's new router (AC-68U running John's Fork) . I restored the config from my backup of the same model. While things have been running fine (it's 100+ miles from my house), I would like to fix this to prevent any future problems.

I've been following this thread for awhile now and am getting ready to dip my toes in. But first I have a couple of questions...
1) Currently, I'm using 2 RT-AC68U's running the latest 'E' version of John's fork (39E3). One is set up as a router only (Wi-Fi is disabled) and the other is an...
Never heard of FastestVPN. However, I'm successfully using NordVPN running in the router and watching every MLB game I want (except for nationally televised games, of course) using MLB.TV running on my Raspberry Pi under OSMC (Kodi).
I knew those permissions didn't seem correct, but I'm using them successfully on /jffs/configs/dnsmasq.conf.add, so I thought that's what was needed here as well. Thanks!
In hindsight, they're obviously Apples and Oranges...
Is anyone here successfully using a postconf script for an OpenVPN Server? I created openvpnserver1.postconf, placed it in /jffs/scripts/, and set the permissions to 666.
Contents of jffs/scripts/openvpnserver1.postconf#!/bin/sh

It actually starts out 'If you have a local repo...'. I assume, based on your question, that you don't, correct? That would then mean it doesn't apply to you.
He lists "the big things" in the points directly above your quote. If John had felt it was worth his time to list every dot and tittle, I'm sure he would have done so.
Perhaps a better way to ask your question would be to ask about a specific feature or function that was important to you.
Thanks, again, John! It's working perfectly fine in 30E3. No more symlink is required and it's actually showing a bit more free nvram than before (74% utilized vs 77% before the update).
Thank you for going through the hassle of making a build just for this fix. It certainly wasn't necessary...
Thanks so much! And I will update my certs again, first thing in the morning, and let you know my results. I'd do it straightaway, but we're streamers and it's prime time. ;)
Nope. I'm not doing anything except moving the certs from jffs to nvram, updating the certs and moving them back to jffs. I have 2 AC-68U's - one as a router the other as an Access Point. Same thing on both. Below is the cheat sheet I use for executing the update.:
