    Fingers crossed the stock firmware will not be full of broken stuff and general bugs like BE98 was (and still is, but better), else don't consider buying until at least 9 months in to see what the state of play is. The closed software components are exactly that, and beyond external help....

Can you not do a base image based on what you know for BE98 (non-Pro), and pass to GNUTON for testing that it works or final tweakettes, maybe after you have done the other models to help speed this up?     Speak for yourself. As soon as they dumb down settings I am off to another vendor. I don't want some dumbed down offering. Don't understand the settings, or want to read up on them first? Then get another router that is dumbed down would be my advice. There may be an argument to limit settings...

    Its generally accepted as 15 in security circles. Complex non dictionary words, and at least 15 in length. At 15 and over its incredibly difficult.

There was a newer beta 9.0.0.6.102.4856 for XT12 (part of the .102 code base though) and that is only slightly newer and that is circa 2023.     Isn't the latest alpha2 test release incorporating the changes, though Merlin may decide not to change user settings? The GPL he has was newer and merged into alpha2.

    All good on RT-AX86U. The Client Status Network Map fix works in this release, but didn't in Alpha 1. Plugins like Diversion and Merlin AU update and LCD status all worked fine. Thanks Merlin.

    For those EU/UK people running BE98 who read this thread - GNUTON (and contributors) has released a production version today over at GNUTON's github. It's now on par with Merlin's release (well, actually derived mostly from that anyway). Available in CLASSIC UI or ROG UI here...
