Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

After having some issues with previous updates this method works for me..... Backup the settings and JFFS partition. When on 384.19 I had IPv6 disabled. My VPN client was manually created with IPv4 only. All worked fine with policy based routing, no issues at all. To successfully go to 386 type...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

We survived tho ;) For me going back from beta 4 (initial one) to 384.19 and I had issues with the VPN client. Restoring the JFFS partition was not going to work. Guess a part of that was due to the OpenVPN client going to 2.50 in the 386 release. I formatted the JFFS partition and rebooted as...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Used the firmware restoration utility, learned something new. Used it to flash to 384.19. Worked a treat and now setting up policy routing etc. All good :) Best of luck to everyone else using the original beta 4 and their AX88U. Thanks Eric for the 4b, I'll hold on for now as I'm getting...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Woke up to one or two events :) So I'm using the problematic initial beta 4 for my AX88U. I noted that I'm unable to flash anything as, what has been reported, it reports invalid image. I have download the Asus restoration utility (never used before) and also both the 384.19 and the test beta...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Not really much to add, apart from many thanks...... It worked.... it works..... beta 4 installed fine on AX88U over beta 3. Not sure if needed but I disabled the VPN client and then updated to beta 4. Waited a few minutes (made cup of tea) and then turned VPN client with policy routing...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Mine is version 1.1 and produced in 2020, bought mid October of last year. From what little I have noted, within these forums, I only see mine or the first revision being mentioned.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Initially my firmware update from 384.19 to beta 3 of this firmware seemed quite uneventful, in other words fine without issue. But then I noted firstly that the logs of the AX88U had entries like... miniupnpd[1504]: HTTP peer 169.254.107.63 :61264 is not from a LAN, closing the connection etc...

VPN traffic shows as UPLOADS in QOS..... ASUS BUG

@RMerlin sorry for necro this old thread but it fits perfectly with my query. Did you point Asus to this thread at all...? I am using policy based routing successfully for many years with your firmware adaptations, but it not going to work well with QOS in use, due to what is described in this...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

my AX88U on the 384.19 firmware.... Since using the latest beta 3 firmware.... a little hotter, or is it a reporting difference rather it actually running hotter..? For me no noticeable difference apart from perhaps a reporting one. I mention that as the CPU load on all four cores as been...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Updated from a very stable 384.19 to the latest beta 3 firmware for my AX88U, using a VPN client and policy routing. All went well, no reset applied as all seems fine. All 40 plus clients connected and port forwarding etc, all working as expected. Alexa also connected with router control, as...

    Is my AC86U toast?

A pity that you got rid of the box. I do know that some companies will sell the same product globally but have differing warranties depending on the region. If you read some of the reviews of this model on the Amazon US website people are noting that it has a two years warranty. When I bought...

    Is my AC86U toast?

For me it was, a noted before, shown not as a sticker on the box but printed on it. IIRC It also noted that on the advert on Amazon's advert. I also know that when I bought my AX88U that too shows the same, again the advert at Amazon also states that. Asus were happy to help me a mine was...

    Is my AC86U toast?

Well done. I got passed from tier one support to a manager at tier 3, within Asus eventually. It was due to Amazon's initial reaction to my issues which escalated the involvement of Asus. Asus's initial stance, rightly so, was that my problems with the router which they recognised to be fault...

    Is my AC86U toast?

I had initial resistance in offering me any support or assistance with my faulty 86U from Amazon, but it was them who eventually gave me a full refund. It did take some effort and time to get that. However due to that initial problematic response from them I approached Asus and they were very...
